H1 vs H2 Hummers

oubeta,

As you know, I had an H1, and although I loved it, it just wasn't practical at all. I agree, the H2 isn't nearly as mean as the H1, but I think you may be happier with the H2 in the long run because it is more convenient. The H1 will probably hold its value better though. If you had 110k to burn, I would say go with a new H1, but between a 98 H1 and a 2003 H2, I would stick with the safer bet.

I PM'd you. You can also tak to Kel, she drives it daily. It is a beast and except for when it gets to the 100's here (Arizona) because it doesn't have good front window tinting, it is the most fun to drive.

concerns:

speed/accel: with the turbodiesel it gets up there plenty fast for anyone driving around in a vehicle with a GVR of 12,500. I have used it to blaze to the hospital and had it up at 80MPH no problem- people get the Fuck out of your way.

mileage: diesel is cheaper and it easily gets 13MPG at worst. Gas cost/mile is about the same as my 2002 911 C4s

repair costs: If you have an good mechanic (average GM trucks) he can fix it easy, sometimes you have to order a part or two which are twice the cost that they should be but they get there fast.

Uniqueness : we're talking about a $110,000 SUV here. It gets more looks and thumbs up than anything I have EVER driven.

Parking : wherever you want. No one can tow you anyway.

anyway PM/ e-mail me or Kel

simple solution: get a wrangler rubicon.

I used to have an h1 before i got my vette...It was a 97 open top turbo diesel... I didn't have much trouble parking it, it just meant that i had to look around a while to find a suitable space... H1s are far more versatile and better looking than the h2... But my H1 had lots of problems

Had it for 16 months under warranty here are all the things that went wrong:

Engine #8 cylinder went twice 6 months apart
Heat and A/C went out after 3 months then again at 12 months
CTIS never worked even though it was fixed 3 times

I bought the car with a clean title and it only had 25k miles on it when i bought it... I loved driving it but after my warranty went out, i had to sell it because it was always in the shop and ended up constantly driving a rent car... And i also knew a few other people that had the same exact problems that i did with pre-98 hummer... Supposedly those flaws were fixed after 97... So if you are gonna get an h1 go for 98 and up otherwise get an h2. They are more luxurious on the interior anyways

Went and test drove H2's today and felt like I was driving a Yukon. I have (well kinda have now) a streetbike to drive also. I think I'm going with an older H1 like a 98-00. I just like to year the motor and feel the power,,,. H1's are too pretty..

OMG is the world going gay? I can't believe we're actually having a conversation on this.
