gym fights?

imagine

New member
anyone have any good stories of fights at the gym? i personally have yet to see a fight at the gym, and truthfully i don't want to see one (at my gym :P).. however i'm sure it's happend, and with all of the attitudes running high i'm sure i will eventually. i know i've definately wanted to take someones head off in there before but self restraint prevailed. i guess i'm just curious to see what all of your experiences have been.

I think the first rule of anybody sparring should be to check their Ego at the door. Once you are there, you are there for sport. I have gotten hit pretty hard and thrown some hard shots in return/retaliation... Every time I sparr with anybody, no matter how it goes, I give them a hug and a "good job man" at the end of the it all.
We always compare notes in the locker room, you give them props for hitting you with good shots, point out any of their weaknes and they do the same for you... Thats the way it should be.

yeah that shit would not fly anywhere i have ever trained.. respect is rule number 1 for true fighters and safety during training is just as important

but at any of the grappling schools ive trained at if someone was out to prove something the instructor or the top students would quickly put them in check or kick them out.. there is no need for that

a friend of mine stopped teaching his mma class
so another friend of ours went to a BJJ class for further instruction cus he loves martial arts and wanted to keep at it and someday hopes to compete (he already has actually but I think he wants to go to UFC or Pride someday)
so anyway he goes to the BJJ class and he's the new guy so there is that feeling out period you know
well he had good defense so people had to really work to get holds on him and stuff and he naturally is a good grappler, but the practiced standup more then grappling at my friends school I believe, and his standup became much better thenhis grappling
so he was getting hurt by these guys grappling because they would go all out against him, but they were not using that much intensity with each other
so my friend talked to the instructor and he was like yah I'll talk to them also we have a mixed night (wed or thursday I think) and so my friend went back on mixed night and put a beating down on some people
he didn't ko anyone or anything but it got him their respect as a fighter wich helped
that's not really anything specific or anything but I like to toss it out there
I especially like when some BJJ fanatic comes out of no where and calls me a liar because they assume BJJ is the end all and be all of combative sports

i once saw a fight between to guys that had to be about 30-35 years old. and the whole fight was over a treadmill. nothing too major, just some shoving, 2 or 3 punches, then some employees jumping in. pretty lame.

most places handle their own shit,my buddy was a top student at his gym and he was the guy the instructor sent to teach lessons to cocky pricks, this one guy broke a much smaller guys nose by showing off so my buddy cracked his sternum with a knee
