Has anybody used an approach to training such as German Volume Training(10x10 method)? I am going to try this for the next six weeks(read this is the ideal amount of time to train in this method before switching) and wanted to know if anyone had good /bad experiences with this type of training. Usually, it is reccommended that one should train very heavy for max gains, but I always seem to put on the muscle best when I just focus on getting a pump, I think this approach is good but still want some feedback.

I knew a few people on other forums I frequent that tried it for a few weeks. They all lost strength on the program. But that shouldn't matter if you're going for mass anyways. They all complained about the very high level of boredom due to the high volume and low intensity so that's definately an issue. Looking at the program I'd say to watch out for possible overuse injuries from such a high volume of the same exercises. Keep us posted!

Thanks bro, I will kept my results and and opinions on the training posted. I don't think overuse injusries will be too much of a problem because of the light amount of weight being used, 50-60% of max. I actually decided to give it a try becuase during a training session yesterday I was trying the 5x5 method and injured my shoulder so I decide it would be best to stay away from heavy weights for a while. It does seem as though it could become very boring though. I think this is how it is going to look, any suggestions are appreciated:

Day 1: Legs
Squats 10x10
stiff leg DL 3x15
calve presses 3x15

Day 2: Chest/back
db incline bench press 10x10
db rows 10x10
wide grip chins 3x10

Day 3: Shoulders arms:
db shoulder press 10x10
lat shoulder raises 3x15
straight bar curls 3x15
skull crushers 3x15

OR a 2-day split that would look like this:

day 1
db incline press 10x10
db rows 10x10
chins 3xmax
calve presses 3x15
stiff leg DL 3x15

day 2
squats 10x10
shoulder press 10x10
bar curls 3x15
skull crushers or close grip bench press 3x 15

Each workout is seperated by one day on both, input appreciated.

Maybe lighter weight, but 10x10 is intense. I only use it to break out of a plateau. I did get really bored. Only used it on the basics.

Hope it goes well for you.

I definitely agree, it is intense, but I think I have less chance of injury from it than on a higher weight program at the moment. I am just getting back in to SERIOUS training and pushed myself a little too hard with some heavier weights yesterday and injured my shoulder, not bad, but after hearing so many horror stories of shoulder injuries and six months or a year without training afterwards I think I am going to play it safe, just for a few weeks.

How long did you use it and what kind of results did you get?

I havn't used it for an extended period of time. Like I said, it works great for me to get out of a strength plateau. I would generally follow a volume routine after a serious strength routine. Seems to work well for me that way.
