Guys with Shoulder injuries (Rotator Cuff). How do you work your chest?

my bro had a bunk shoulder for years, had cortisol shots, finally had surgery, 2 years later his shoulder is still worthless.

I use dumbells/ hammerstrength machines/ cables... Lighter weight higher reps work well for me..definatley minimizes the pain..

As stated before in an earlier thread of mine, I have an impengment in my right shoulder on the rotator cuff. I'm on GH, and deca to help lube the joints, and I'm trying to rehab it without surgery. It is absolutely bugging the shit out of me. I haven't even tried to work my shoulders, but what's bugging me more is that I can't get a good chest workout in. I know how common this injury is, so I figured I could get some advice from you guys on how ya'll worked the chest through this type of injury. I don't intend on any hardcore workout, but I HAVE to get something in to keep from losing the mass I have left in my chest. Any suggestions?

I had that exact surgery done 1 year ago in December because I had impingement syndrome...had some bone removed and a rotator tear repaired. I'm VERY cautious when working anything with my shoulders, chest, etc., but the pain I used to get from constant lifting is gone. I just don't push it to hard tho. I never want to have that surgery again.

Go light anything causing pain is doing more damage. Avoid using ice and anti inflamatories and get it fixed with prolotherapy.

i'm going to orthopedic sugeon monday. i hurt it about 8 weeks ago, i'm pretty sure it's either a torn or inflamed AC joint. pretty much everything overhead hurts. forget any bar presses for shoulders or chest. now all DB, for incline, only slow hammerstrength press and flyes. really sucks, i used to blow through my workouts w/ good weight, now i feel like a bitch. if i need surgery i'll get it, but not till after summer. my cycle starts in 2 weeks, i may add low dose deca during it. i have been on MSM gluc. and chon. since 2/3. i stretch like a mofo before, during and after training, and have stopped kickboxing/ground fighting, i initially injured it punching up, while on my back.

Wow, didn't expect this many responses. Appreciate all the info guys. I did flyes last night on a machine for the first time, and it didn't hurt. Got my hopes up a lot. Then last night I slept on it, and it hurts like a bitch right now. I actually hurt it by hitting a jammed door with my elbow. Instead of a punch, I actually used my elbow. Kinda like a UFC move. Can't beleive that after all the years of heavy lifting, that some kind of pussy move like that can mess up my shoulder for good. Shoulders are my best bodypart too.

In 2002 I started feeling pain on the top of my AC joint. (That little bump you feel when you cock your shoulder back). I was doing wide grip flat bench presses too much. Anywho, all overhead/incline movements hurt me. I went and got a corti and kept working out. Bad move. Didn't feel the pain. Went for an MRI and they couldn't see any rotator or ligament etc . . . damage. So I went to PT. Didn't do the trick so it was time to get cut. Arthroscopic surgery, clavicular rescection with a mumford procedure. The doc said it was a mess in there with inflamation with scar tissue. I am so glad I got the surgery. I am almost 100% now, it still cracks and pops and is sore sometimes, also feels unstable sometimes, not to mention, left lags behind the right now so my symmetry is a little off and my front delt is lagging big time (I blame the corti). That was five years ago. Moral of the story, go to the surgeon, get the MRI and get it fixed. Do you PT and then get back in the gym. Fix it now and be patient. I am glad I did as I am in the best shape of my life right now and I enjoy every workout.

Best machine I find to use when it comes to shoulder injuries for chest are the Hammer Strength line... If your gym carries that line of equipment try it...

Good luck
