Guild Wars or WoW?

Still can't decide. And i can't find demos of either. One is one-cost, and one is cost + monthly-fee. So of course WoW is a bigger $ investment.

But descriptions both look similar, and review are the same

but everquast is the shit to.
EverQuest can become a full-time job tho. Great game, crazy time investment necessary for the end-game.

Well I got 2 level 60's and a level 52 in WoW all on PvP servers.. its a good game at the lower levels but once you hit 60 its endless 4 hour raids to make any progress.

The PvP is skillless bullshit completely relying on who raids the most and heas the best gear..

You could be the best PvPr in the world and some assclown with tier 3 gear, parkinsons and 4 fingers missing will smoke you.

Guild wars is a little more skill reliant if you want good PvP.

DOnt get me wrong if you like the EQesque marathon raid bullshit the endgame of WoW is good..

BTW Razor if you decide to play WOW roll a horde on nerzhul or Alliance on Illidan and Ill hook you up with some gear to get you started

there r some people on ebay selling "wow" w/o cd-key. What does that mean? I can buy that, use some cd-key from the net, then play online and pay the subscription? Or do i have to buy the whole thing from compusa? This 'pay $50 and still pay $15/mth' is a bit weird when u've never even played it. Maybe i'll find a game cafe around here where nerds hang out.

I'd recommend World of Warcraft over Guild Wars aswell. The monthly subscription fee is nothing considering the hundreds of hours / month you invest if the addiction grips you :chomp:

The key is making contacts in game with competent players (this sounds fucking stupid to someone that isn't playing) so you can quickly grind all the good 5 man instance gear.

Alliance suits PvE (Player versus Environment) mostly due to Paladins / Dwarf Priests, but Horde "racials" give a little edge in PvP / BG (Player versus Player / Battlegrounds).

Nothing really "nerdy" about games / WoW nice. 6million + people globally playing it, and it's surprising to see the diversity of the people playing as opposed to current thought of skinny spotty teenage boys locked in their parents basement gaming 24/7, desk strewn with cans of red bull and empty pot noodle tubs.

can i just get wow from my friend, or do i have to buy it just to even try it out?
You can install the CD's on as many computers as you want. Once the game is on the computer, you must log-in and either create a character or use a character that has already been created on the account. On each server, I think you can create up to 8 characters (its some number like that).

What your friend could do is give you the CD's, let you install them, let the game update to the latest version, then he'd have to give you his username/password and let you "borrow" the account for a while. You could play his toons or make one of your own to try it out.

When you buy the game itself, you get the same CD's he already has. What you will also get is an "Account Activation Key" that lets you create your own username/password account. That's the account you'll have to setup your own billing (i.e. credit card) info with and pay monthly fees from.

If you do use his account, realize that he can't log in at the same time or it will boot you (and vice versa). Don't go too long leveling-up a toon there because you'll lose that toon when you create your own account (all new accounts start off with no characters).

my iksar necro was badass.....a bitch to level though and hated by all (which I liked)..........he's naked and in perpetual limbo

Hell, I still have my EQ account that was created in 99. I currently am playing WoW and love it. I trid GW and just couldn't get into it. It didn't seem to have the amount interaction I need to keep me interested. Personally I would say WoW, but like you had stated it does cost monthly to play. But I don't even notice the money spent. Good luck with your new addiction.

Neither! I use to have roommates that would literally live at their computers because they would play WOW 24/7 if you would let them. They would sometimes play Guild Wars. I don't have the time or patience for those kind of games.

I've played UO, EQ, EQ2, and WoW. Only one I ever found was good, but it is almost dead by now, was UO. EQ was great, I loved ToV, but 5pm till 6am raids on ToV to clear it in one go.

EQ2 is great for Trade skill type of stuff, and WoW, well. I played D1 and D2, and all WoW is to me is Diablo 2 with fancier graphics and a different story line. But I hear a lot of people love it, just tired of Blizzard dumping the same crap every few years.

I have heard good things about WOW.

Still have to finish leveling my 69 necro on EQ though. I have been taking a break. No way in hell do I want to start another EQ type game.
