There was a leak of the developer's version of the game on the PC but it'd probably be tough to get. A retail version will probably be out sometime late summer/fall anyway.
I walked into Gamestop at lunch, got a preorder, picking it up at midnight. I plan on getting some sleep before then though because I probably won't when 4/29 hits. 
Less than 3 hours.....hell yeah.
It just got a perfect 10 score from GameSpot on both consoles.

I played for about two hours so far but need sleep lol. So far the gameplay is classic GTA feel but what comes with it it amped up and much more involving. Voice acting is excellent. Like playing a crime drama movie. This game is much funnier though, filled with social satire.

I played it for about 6 hours already, just loving it .....
The play mechanics are surprisingly similar; I thought they'd be tweaked a little more, but it's easy enough to refamiliarize yourself with. The rest of the game, with all the stuff to do and see is unparalleled. And for $60 it's a steal in entertainment value.

I'm beginning to wonder how much bigger and more detailed the game could've been if it wasn't anchored by the 360's storage medium limitations. Go figure that they're the ones getting the exclusive content down the road to boot. Sony must be peeved at that a bit. For what it is though it's still arguably the most content-heavy game when compared to anything else currently out there.
Yo what console do I need for this, which console is better, I haven't played a video game for a loooong time.

I got GTA 4 yesterday. Love it so far. Much more realistic driving and fighting (a lot harder) and the game is seriously HUGE. Plus the plot is good, missions are not ridiculously hard (yet) and I'm sure there is a ton of stuff to do other than just follow the story line. I'm about 10% complete so far.

I just picked up and banged a hooker, then went on a killing spree where I took down five cops and about ten pedestrians with only a pistol before driving full speed into a concrete barrier and going out through the windshield into the river.
This rocks.

Halo 3 was a pretty big disappointment by gamers' standards. Look at how much more popular Call of Duty 4 is now by comparison. Many were let down by the weak conclusion, stale campaign, and graphics that were basically a higher res. version of Halo 2. The multiplayer is all that saved it from being a flop.

Many reviewers have said the PS3 version, aside from loading slightly faster and having further drawing distances, looks like it had a few more AA passes have been made, allowing for a smoother picture. Ironically enough the PS3 version is supposedly only in 630p while the 360 is in 720p. Framerate is same in both. 360 appears to have better lighting but that depends on the default setting.

By dark do you mean the picture or the story....granted the graphics could've been better but the game itself would've ended up being a hell of a lot smaller. Considering it's an entire city to play in with practically zero load times it's an impressive feat.
This game is loaded with content and that's what draws me in and keeps me there more than anything else. No other game can compete with the attention to detail Rockstar has put into this gaming world.

Been playing since it came out, its just plain awesome.
I thought the graphics were pretty dark too, had to turn up the brightness and contrast all the way to drive around at night ....

I'm hoping to have some time to dig into it this weekend. I've only just opened the third island and the farthest one left is still closed or I haven't looked. Story-wise I just did the "No. 1" race with Brucie. That Streetsweeper mission was the toughest so far.
This game is fucking tough if you don't have a plan. You've really gotta strategize some of these missions. I'm on the Waste Not Want Knots mission and I got wasted a half dozen times because I'd just go in guns blazing. You need to be in a patient frame of mind for the shooting missions.
