Grip Training

I was thinking of adding direct grip work to my program. I'm currently in the midst of a rippetoe program. I am afraid that the grip work will fatigue my forearms too much and affect my core lifts. I don't know exactly where to add this work into my program so that it will not affect my core lifts. The grip work I was planning to use was pinch plates, static holds and farmers walks. Any advise would be appreciated.

not sure on the grip training, but if you feel like the grip is failing and causing the lift to go bad, get some caulk. lifting caulk helps a ton. i do not think i could do deadlift without it and it would make squat and bench a pain.

i think dude above me meant chalk. alot of gyms dont allow that. i might get flamed for this, but for your super heavy back excersises get straps.

this way you can train your grip, and when your doing heavy deadlifts and it just falls out of your hands, you can finish your set/workout using straps

Yeah chalk is out. I'm not having grip issues with any of the lifts as of yet. But I know my grip is weak. I want to get a head start on the grip training before it gets too late.

Thanks for the strap idea. I don't know if Im going to use them on my big lifts. I think not using straps is the best way to train grip.

I think I'm going to add my grip training on my last 3x5 day. Maybe the two days rest will help.
