Grindhouse vs. 300?

I Told You So ...
EF VIP
Hubby and I MIGHT go see a movie this weekend ...

Opinions?

Tarantino's dialogue is dorky and stilted but his stories alway surprise and he does come up with some funny ass monologues.

Sin City was just a powerful ass, freaky movie.

haven't seen grindhouse, but it's got a pretty full cast. i think you can get a feel for the heavy style/tone they're going for, so you can decide if you're in the mood for that shi'ite. 300, likewise. i enjoyed 300.

300 was a great movie. Why don't you just get it from the Interweb? I'm sure it's on around somewhere.

I always wondered what the back story is behind him. I guess I could be ambitious and Google it ... my ex could rattle shit like that off the way other dudes rattle off sports stats.

Never read the comics, us D&D players thought comic readers and collectors were nerds.

Clever marketing ploy. Double feature! Gotta love that goofy looking cat.

Really it's using that outdated (but totally cool) device, the vinette (sp?), or multiple stories within a framework.

Lotsa pagans are into D&D.

I think they're both sort of nerdy activities :lmao: No offense. I was married to a collector, I've played D&D, now I'm neither.

I'm like the only weight lifting pagan I know, though, :FRlol:

Grindhouse was about an 8 out of 10 for me last night. The first half was really close to being 10 out of 10. Deathproof was kind of boring for a long stretch of that movie, which brought the over all rating down.

Definately worth going to see though.

They are, I was only thinking of degrees of nerdiness. Other nerds will agree.

My ex is into an activity that has got to be the ultimate distillation of comics and collectibles (I'm fuckin' mortified to admit this, mind you):

HeroClix.

He got into this with his current wife.

I got out just in time.

It's a complete hobby, I have to assemble and paint the little guys too.
You are either a collector or not. Most women collect things like clothes, makeup, shoes, nic naks, etc., etc., etc.

I am an oddity among females, with the exception of books and pagan esoterica (ritual items, gods/goddess statues, tarot cards, crystals, etc.) I am not a collector. My clothes can fit in a large burea and half of a closet that is 4' across. I literally can count all the pairs of shoes that I own, including sandals, winter boots and sneakers, on two hands. All of my jewlery fits in one box that measures 18" square and my makeup all fits in one ziplock bag.

I find clutter loathsome. My late mother, my late in-laws and both husbands have been the clutter monsters (ex left the clutter he didn't feel like toting away) and I am still digging out from underneath their collective detritus.

I own over 10k worth of toy soldiers, 2/3 of which I still have to paint. I might have a problem. :)

Oh, hell sugar, I'm too cheap for that!!! :FRlol:

I wanna play with the goods, I stay home and do it in my nice comfy bed ... me not gottum ankle biters. I just have to look at the husband and go "I need help taking a shower, you gotta show me what to do with the shower massage thingy." :qt: That usually does it ;)

I learned a while back that if I just go "I'm horny, wanna fuck?" is the wrong approach. I might as well toss a bucket of ice water on the man, go figure

I'm definitely seeing a trend here

I saw this movie where like this kid played with toy soldiers and stuff and this guy with a poofy hat shot him and like the dad was pissed so he melted the soldiers down into bullets and stuff and shot people. It was good.

Turning into a coming out of the nerd closet thread up in here.
No man, I've seen nerds, I've smelled them and listened to their asthmatic wheezes :worried: Trust me, man, you ain't a nerd.

I've been to comic book conventions ... Star Trek conventions ... and I've seen photos of Anime conventions, I wasn't about to brave that. I don't think I'd be able to resist the urge to stand in the lobby and scream, "GET OUT OF YOUR PARENT'S BASEMENT AND GET A LIFE!!!"

I've been in the presence of people who will never, EVER get closer to human sexual contact than ... well, this:

Cool. I didn't exactly know what to think about the movie but if it's similar to Sin City and has zombies....pffft, what's not to like.

Vampire Counts and Daemonic Legions are my favorite list. I started palying in 5th edition and Undead was my first army( one book). I just started an ogre kingdoms army because I also started Dogs of War in 5th and they work very well together, plus I have a bunch of old school ogre minis.I purchased a mail order maneater and need to paint it, sweet mini.

I started playing 40k with Rogue Trader in 1990.

Crap. I thought that everyone played pen / paper RPGs "back in the day".

I did to. Lots of D/D and Gamma Warriors. Even a little Car Wars. But then I got to grade six and threw away my 1d20.

I stopped the roleplaying stuff in college.

300 is on Imax at the theater here. It would be much more worth while seeing on the big screen than Grindhouse imo. I'll still watch Grindhouse on dvd though.
