Re: green Tea

If you have a Trader Joe's nearby, they have Green Tea there or in the Asian Section of any market. Trader Joe's prices will probably be better though.

what are the benefits of drinking it?

supposedly it can help/lead to
increased insulin sensitivity
decreases absorbtion of carbs in the gut (yeah dont ask me how or why it can do both :) )

antioxidant

other chemicals in it i forget the name of but are good for u, and a very mild diuretic as normal black tea is.

there WAS research out there that said it reduced test, but it was done with intravenous sources of the antioxidant. when drank there is no significant change.

so in other words its some cool shit :) just wanted to know if too much tea might be bad for you, due to diuresis, or some other reason. it seems ideal for cutting :)

Just picked some green tea up...Orange flavor. The "Orange Flavor" doesn't add any calories to it , correct?

im not sure but its doubtful as its likely to be the 'rind' of the orange :)

some of the flavoured green tea, which i have picked up in the past had 2 calories per tea bag, which is negligible.

:)

(taken form a response to a thread I started in another board)

How appropriate...as we speak I am studying polyphenols in green tea for my biochemistry professor. These polyphenols seem to inhibit a large 20+ subunit protein (the 20P subunit i believe) which is responsible for degrading proteins that signal cell death. In cancer patients this protein is overactive so there are few "death" proteins and cells grow rapidly. I am trying to use the polyphenols and study them in the active site using a computer docking program called auto dock to see if we can synthesize molecules which will better fit the active site
