Got ripped off on ebay...

I purchased these wheels off ebay over a month ago without receiving them yet. The guy that sold them has a great feedback and everything so I thought it was going to go real smooth. He never responds to my emails or telephone calls, so finally after not receiving them, I left him a negative feedback. He was real quick to respond to that saying that I NEVER paid for the wheels. That is bullshit. I have the statement from my credit card company saying I paid for them.

Has anybody else had a problem like this on eBay, and if so what did/can you do about it?

Cant you dispute the charge, and be covered by the Visa?

That sucks man...I never used Ebay, but all my other deals done on forums have worked out for me fortunately.

Chargeback the amount to your credit card, put your dispute over the charges in writing then chalk it up as a bad deal. Once it is charged back, it is up to the merchant to prove they provided services/products. That will get his attention real quick as well as put a black mark on his Ebay account.

I have heard its good to use postal money orders....apparently its a federal offense if you get ripped...

He even left positive feedback for you on April 5. Obviously he is mixed over something.

He does have 45 negatives out of 3666 auctions though. Maybe a not so great feeback rating. If they aren't 99.9% feedback rating or better, I don't deal with them. Of course I do check their negative feedback and see what the dispute was over.

This fucker is in my area code.

file a complaint with ebay they should look after it,to sell on ebay you must provide a cc so they can probably charge him then compensate you

I have done over 400 transactions on ebay, mostly selling, and I have never fucked anyone! Assholes like that give ebay a bad name. I got some kid that one something and wont pay for it. I hate leaving neg. feedback but for the integrity of the system ill probably have to.

that definatly sucks,I bought a kilt off ebay but the lady who sold it to me measured it wrong and took it back giving me 5 bucks on top of the full refund for my trouble, I guess there are bad apples everywhere but my ebay experiences have been great

Ebay has buyer protection so you won't get screwed in cases like this. There should be a link that ebay sent you which has a File Claim link on it somewhere. It takes about a month or so for them to investigate this case and determine who was in the wrong, and like takniteasy said, it's up to them to provide proof that they gave you what you paid for. I had to file a claim last month for a book I paid for but never received. The lady I bought it from didn't respond to my attempts to contact her, so I filed the claim and got the money back in about a month. She got some negative feedback from me along with that.

I was in a situation somewhat similar to this, my advice would be to contact the attorney generals office (you can even file over the web) in whatever state he is in.

When it happened to me, I was selling something right before I moved, got the payment before I moved, but my computer was dropped and HD crashed, so I lost all my contact emails etc, and the email the buyer had listed on ebay was no longer valid(same way with mine as I had registered a long time ago) needless to say after about a month I got a letter from the SD attorney generals office and I made damn sure I sent that shit out right away since it had his correct address in it and everything. So I would give it a try, if hes a deadbeat, it might scare him enough to rectify the situation

A few months ago some asshole screwed my father for $160.00 on ebay.
I made sure my father used a USPS money order to pay the prick, and sure enough, the fucking douche who tried to take his money and run is now in a world of fucking shit!
It took the USPS a while to start moving, but now that they have, it is on and he is fucked!

This was copy and pasted from one of his auctions. Maybe I'm missing something.

ebay's Safe Harobor program did nothing for me but churn and burn several email messages.

i gave the bastid negative feedback and moved on.....sold the same item a month later for more than what the first slacker had bid.

sean, the best solution would to be to complain to your credit card company in writing, via USPS registered mail, stating what happened and what you require for settlement. they will get to the bottom of it for you....this is why you pay them interest.

if the item was over 25.00 you are supposed to be covered by the ebay protection program..

I was screwed once, but it was for 24 dollars ....this person screwed hundred of people through paypal...

now they are much more strict to get a paypal acct...

best thing to do is email tech support. if you need the appropriate link just click on their live help icon on their home page and the live support tech will direct you on the best course of action. there is also an ebay discussion board where you can talk about things like this with more knowledgeable people.

it looks like he even left you positive review saying that you paid. there's more evidence... :)

Rockafella's math is probably right. eBay's feedback thing there shows a wrong percentage some of the time. I'd say anything 90% or above is probably ok to deal with.

Just go to help on the ebay header and follow the links. Ebay handles these things well, but it takes time for them to act. If he's denying you made payment, he may be broke, out of stock, and buying time before he is forced to make it right. This may be why he doesn't have even more negative feedback, as many people will forgive a mistake and are happy enough getting what they paid for.

Ebay WILL take care of it for you, though. Just be patient and don't waste time calling everyone and writing everbody, and definately write the seller a 'second chance' type letter where you ask him to do you a favor and look again at his records. Don't let him know how pissed you are. Letting him save face will be his reward for playing nice, and he'll be more eager to play his part if he thinks you will let it go. You know he's in the wrong, but he's betting on you being level-headed enough not to buy a ticket to his city and ambush him. After its over and you have your tires, give him feedback saying he lost record of payment and you had to wait over a month for a ressolution. That's enough for me to look for another option, and you aren't being unjust :)

If he's stalling, he'll wait a few days and tell you he's found record, he's sorry (excuse), and will ship ASAP, which may or may not mean he'll ship them right away but will get you an email record of his acceptance of payment, and its better than butting heads with someone who obviously can't get it together.

Shortly after I left him a negative comment he was quick to respond with saying I did not pay him. I was then quick to respond to him with an email telling him that it's bullshit, I have got in touch with my credit card company, printed all payment invoices as evidence, and the credit card company will be getting in touch him him shortly. He then responded quickly to this email saying he apologized and got confused with the shipping address (which was bullshit). But I accepted the apology and he is giving me a full refund. I just want this to be over with my money in hand. That will make me happy.

Thanks everyone for the advice to deal with this situation and am glad I didn't have to take some of the measures I was about to take.

Yeah, a refund is better than questionable product, which at this point you'd be wise in questioning.

My buddy got ripped for $200 on ebay years ago by someone who covered his tracks. He never got his money back or the product he paid for.

Glad you got away with your money back, and hopefully ebay will investigate this clown.

That is one of the easiest scams on ebay. You put up a desirable, yet dirt-cheap product with the "Buy it Now" option, and let hundreds of fucks bid on it. Then you contact all those people through their email addresses----and tell ALL of them that they have won, and to send in the money. $24 x 100 victims is some nice cash considering the ease of the scam, and that the police---let alone ebay---are not going to get involved in a scam investigation over a product that costs less than $25, or even $250. They have bigger fish to fry. And the scammer knows that each of the people he fucked over aren't going to spend money just to sue him in Civil Court over $24......thus, criminally and civilly, nothing can be done to this asshole. And although ebay can EVENTUALLLY ban him, this ass can just find another computer terminal at a public library and start the cycle again.

you are not counting the neutrals.... ;)

Regardless of his feedback rating, he still has some shitty negatives if you take the time to read them. Most of them seem to be related to the problem described by SeanHolmez. Fucking South Carolina hillbilly. Gives us all a bad name.
