Good To See Someone Calling It

I don't give a fuck how much juice you take. You still have to hit a little ball going 80+ mph and have all the skills to play the game.

So true. I played college ball. Size has nothing to do with baseball. Ive seen dudes built like toothpicks hit fucking bombs. Reacting to a 93 mph fastball and steroids have nothing to do with each other.

No but the difference between a fly ball and a home run is another 20 feet which requires another few pounds of force which has everything to do with being stronger. And steroids make you stronger.

It's all bullshit. They cover their asses and call it "right"....say it's the right thing to do. They mock the game. You can't stop it. The good old days are gone. Gehrig is gone. Embrace the inevitable. Resistance is futile.

Very true. But in college you use the aluminum bat. In the majors you get the wood stick, longer power alleys and centerfields, guys throwing 95-98+ with movement on the ball and power becomes a big issue. You still have to be a tremendous athlete to hit those pitches, but if you can, the added power certainly helps.

I did read an article about steroids most likely helping pitchers much more than the hitters. Quicker recovery between starts and being able to add just a couple MPH to not only a fast ball, but breakers and off speed pitches is everything. 93 is very average and 98 is exceptional. Too bad all the focus, lest there be any, is on the hitters.

No one will ever know how many pitchers Bonds, McGuire, Giambi, Sosa, and whoever had to face that also were juicing. Bonds won't leave a hall of fame legacy to his children when he is dead, but he will leave them a massive fortune.

This is all a feel good for MLB. The fallout with be nationwide. It makes it look like there tackling the problem, but it will always be there.

That is true but also fixing flaws in your mechanics can help with that extra 20 feet. Look at Ken Griffey when he was with Seattle, I would say hes average size but his swing was so fluid it didnt matter how strong he was. What Im saying is steroids dont play as big as a role in baseball as people think they do at least in my opinion.

Also would you call it cheating if someone was on HRT because they needed it? Say a 40 yr old player that had low test levels.

I never called it cheating. That's what makes it all ridiculous. The cat is out of the bag and it ain't going back in. These commissioners and media people are trying to turn back time. But in the end, being stronger helps at everything -- swimming, Tennis, even golf.

Excellent article. It is EXACTLY what most of those geeks who have never played any kind of competitive sport aside from pay & play baby shit games just don't get!!

If your across from a guy you know is juicin and you're gettin your ass kicked you can bet anything that if you're any kind of competitve athlete you will be juicin soon thereafter so you too can keep up with the "cheaters".

some has been congressman trying to keep his name and face in the public's eye....what utter, complete and total bullshit this "mitchell report" is.

I remember an seeing an interview with someone, I forget who, who was talking about Barry Bonds. He said that Bonds knew that Mark McGwire was juicin and felt that he could do better if he juiced as well. Well guess what? As I understand it Bonds soon thereafter sought out Greg Andersen, Balco and the rest is history.

I wish I could remember more of the interview and who it was with but thats pretty much the meat of it. Or should I say the juice of it?!
