This week I was going to start 5x5, but i decided to take the week off and get my calories down( cutting ) and getting into the cario routine. I have cut my calories at least 2000, RIGHT away, my friend was talking about my fat being locked up because it thinks its getting ready for famine? can anyone comment on this? thanks

to 2000 calories or cut down by 2000 calories???

i hope you didn't lop off 2000 cals just off the bat. how many were you taking in before?

Best way to lose fat & retain muscle is slow & steady. Start coming down to your maintenance a few hundred cals at a time. Maybe take a 500 calorie cut right off the top, but then add in some cardio again in moderation, and then come down a few hundred cals when the fat loss stops. Basically, do as little as necessary to get fat to come off. When that stops working, make another small adjustment and get the fat loss going again.

In reality, how much fat do you really need to lose?

About 5 lbs. And yes i did go to crazy cardio and a straight drop from 6000 - 4000

How long have you been doing 6000 calories, and how long have you been recording your diet?
I did 6000 valories for at least 5 months, and I do not record my diet.

Do a PSMF.

Stop stalking me.

If 5 pounds is all you need to drop, and you've got a fast, young metabolism, you can be ready for spring break by starving yourself for a week or two and running your ass off. I was thinking you needed a longer term cutting strategy.

Are you cool dudes using the spring break routine even in summer now? Anyways, yea about 5+ pounds, so in the summer I can have a nice body to look at, 6 months of bulking I cannot wait... I dont want to lose any muscle though. 5x5 next week...

Nobody wants to look at your body man...get over yourself. It's not like random people will come up to you and say, "Hey, can I see your body" and then do all sorts of critiquing. Who do you think you are? If you weren't so vain and obsessed with your appearance you wouldn't get as much shit as you do in this forum.

how much are you weighing in at right now...?

i find it very hard to believe that you were taking in 6000cals for 5 months, and only added 4-5 pounds of fat in that time...

There is no possible way that you consumed 6000 cals a day for 5 months and only gained 5 pounds of fat. Even if you ran miles every day it wouldn't happen. And dropping 2000 calories that quick is a very bad idea. I would suggest dropping 100-200 cals a day til you get down to you wanted caloric intake.

So true- i know some big guys who eat around 6000 calories but they must put on over a stone in the same period. when i say big i mean 240lb+ guys.
There are loads of calorie counting web sites out there, look at your diet again to make sure that you have calculated your daily intake correctly.

Then from there you could fine turn it, maybe reduce it like some guys have said by 200/300kcal, up the cardio a little and monitor your progress. good luck mate

When I was young I was hitting 6000+ calories a day and I didn't gain any fat. I was runnign 5 days a week and hitting the gym and I was in the infantry - it is possible to eat that much and not gain any fat. It all depends on your life style. I know lard asses that eat half that and can gain 5 lbs in a week.

Sorry, no one eats 3000 calories and gains 5 lbs. of anything but water in a week.

I gained 15 lbs of fat, 25 lbs of muscle in 6 months. And I'm plannig to lose maybe 10.

No, because the guy who got him banned also fucked up royally. As far as I'm concerned, they've had their timeouts. They have not two but THREE choices -- they can stay out of each other's way; they can talk about training instead of each other and maybe learn something; or they can both get banned again.

Now how about we all get back to TRAINING?
