Yes it could have. SW has a history of doing this to passengers. Aren't they the ones who told the girl with the "short" skirt she could not fly. I have flown them once and will never do it again if I can help it. it was a miserable flight.
I hope Southwest gave out free alcohol on the flight to tolerate them

Hahahahaha. The people could have handled thier kids differently but having the police meet them at the gate? c'mon a bit much.

They should absolutely refund their money though.........of that there is no question. I kind of understand SW's stance...........if even the mom admitted the kids were unruly, you KNOW they were absolute hellions. This is a tough situation..........I feel for the mother, they gotta fly......but if you were one of the passengers, you probably would have been ready to toss the kids out a side hatch.......

+1 I agree. If I was on that connecting flight to seattle I would be sending SW a THANK YOU letter for getting the loud kids off the plane.
Could it have been handled better... Of course. They could have had a manager/supervisor meet them at the gate with the police nearby but not close enough to draw other passengers attention.
In the end, as a passenger of SW I am glad they did it, and you should be thankful too, unless your the parent of some obnoixious kid, or if your a trouble maker yourself.

i think they went overboard with having the police meet them as if they were terrorists or smoked in the bathroom and tampered with the smoke detectors. i wasnt there so i have no idea if the mom let the kids run around on the plane and did nothing to stop them. still i think SW did a horrible job handling the situation. plus those airport police get bored so they needed something to do.
The kids were more than unruly. Two are SPECIAL NEEDS children. One autisitc who was probably FREAKING OUT over all the new stimulation, and one with cerebral palsy.
This is more than a fat sloppy family acting like a fat sloppy family. SW handled this poorly. I'm not saying they shouldn't have done anything to appease the other passengers but calling the police? Come on, folks.

I use to watch that tv show Airline and it was Southwest and they screwed alot of people over and treated them like crap! I've never had a problem when I flown with them but from the show it's out there.

Mother acknowledged that children were running around in the plane.
If children are running around in the plane when they are not supposed to, they are danger to themselves and opthers.
To accomodate 'special needs' children, other passengers' safety can not be put at risk. Every one has 'special needs' these days. Being unruly is not a symptoms of autism.
I hate parents who don't control their brats.

I just saw the news where the interviewed a guy. he said it was the worst and most unsafe flight he has ever been on. He has flown for many many years and has never seen this.
I hate SW flights but you gotta give it to them for making a stand against shit that shouldn't be on a flight. though they get carried away.
Would it not have been cheaper and easier to fly granny to them? There are somethings you just can't do with kids like that and flying is one of them.
