Good enough for body redistribution?

Guys, I don't want to lose much weight, maybe 20 pounds (6 ft 210 currently, 20 yrs). I want to mainly add muscle ( I know this is cliched, but I believe it is possible to gain muscle and lose fat). Here is my plan. I use 5x5 for everything except quads and shoulders.

Mon-chest, bis
Tues-quads, traps
Thurs-shoulders, tris
Fri-back, hamstrings
Sun-shoulders

I also hit the elliptical MWF at 6 in the morning before breakfast. I am eating 4 meals, lower carb, high protein. My questions are:

1) My shoulders are the weakest link appearance wise and I am only 20, so is shoulders 2 days a week overtraining.

2) Is 30 min on the elliptical or 45 better pre breakfast. I use a challenging hill climb program.

3) I tried the stairmaster, and was terribly sore the next day. Does anybody like this for cardio?

Thanks

1) Yes I would think so. You get plenty of shoulder work on chest days.

2) Before breakfast is best. BUT you can't add muscle if you are in a calorie deficit.

3) The stairmaster gives me a better workout than the other machines. I like it but just do what you like.

Your right it is possible to lose fat and gain muscle at the same time... BUT

It isn't optimal, you would get your results quicker if you bulked up cleanly and then cut down.

ditto!!!

I think shoulders wont be overtrained, but only if you seperate the heads of the delts you are hitting on each day...like day one, do front delts, day two: side/rear delts!

I think would be smarter to not overtrain!

and I think anything over 20 mins is not so good, just do 20 mins of interval training on the Eliptical (by the way I fuckin love this machine!!!) and you should be ok! make sure you take in a lil compound carbs/protein before your cardio, its not so good to do intense cardio on an empty stomach!

Peace

No shit, that's like 3 days of shoulders. Good way to overtrain them.
