Going to a chiropractor for the first time tomorrow

I dont know what to expect. All I know is that I pinched a nerve in my back benching yesterday and I've had back pain and shit for a long ass time. My back and neck is always sore and I can tell that something isnt right.

Has anyone had a chiropractor help them out with back pain?

I know they are not real MDs and I'm not going to one for open heart surgery. If they can help my back and neck pain, I dont care if they went to med school at a mini mall.

My insurance covers it too. I'm toe tappin for tomorrow.:D

I've gone to a Chiropractor a few times, I wouldn't say they cured anything but you do feel better. Watch out they will try and get you into the office as often as possible. Don't buy into it.

They help me, but it is true, they will try and get you to come back often.

I always tell them, "I'll call and let you know how I feel, and if I am still in discomfort, I'll schedule for another appointment."

I have found it helps me a lot. My back can go all to hell if I don't get an adjustment from time to time. The first time I went in, I had a problem with my neck so bad I couldn't lift my head to get out of bed. I had nasty problems with my whole spine due to poor sleeping posture, bad futon frame, etc.

Some people are wary of having their neck adjusted now due to risk of stroke. You can always decline that part.

Just realize that if its painful and been going on for awhile frequent adjustments are necessary. Even when you arent hurting its good to go in say once a month and get adjusted. My body is trashed so to speak and I've had awesome results from chiropractic care. I recently had severe Right frontal headaches that took about 20 adjustments to get better and had a right ankle that was subluxated and it was causing not only my right ankle to hurt but both of my heels as well. After about 2 ankle adjustments my heels were pain free. Find a good one-- if you are a big guy try and find a chiro that does the GONSTEAD method--not b/c its the best or anything--but b/c they use knee-chest tables to do most of their adjusting as opposed to the side-posture method.

goto a SPORTS chiropractor if you are a hardcore bb'er-they have the required training-otherwise a massage may be a better option

Yeah, Dont go to someone who treats only sedentary folks and the elderly. You need someone who can move the fucking bones.

They are not MDs but they are real Dr.s. As with any doctor, some are better than others. If you find a good one it wont matter if it's a "sports" chiro or not. (Athletes do not require some special vertebral alignment) Yep, they will try to keep you coming back for more. However, sometimes their is benifit to be had by going for several treatments. You get something cruntched up in your back and ussualy its not just one pop you fine. It can take some time to get to "normal." You get popped, your muscles react. I've gone in for acute pain and left feeling fine without the need to go back. I've gone in with minor pain that took several treatments to finally clear up. I've gone in with moderate pain, felt worse after the adjustment, but felt like a million buck the next day. Lots of dynamics involved If I had the money, I'd be in once a week regardless.
