Going blonde..some concerns.

Tenoch

New member
I've basically went back and forth from a bic (razor shaved) head to a longer, messy spike for the past few years. Did lighter highlights once but that's about it for variety. I've been thinking about going completely blonde, like platinum, as soon as my hair is longer, for a while now. I'd like something that is long enough to look good worn down but can also be spiked up and not look like Wade from that B2k movie. My concern is what do people do with their eyebrows? Seems like there would be way too much of a contrast. Also I don't want to look like a Ryan Cabrera clone. I've included a somewhat recent pics of myself in case they will help anyone offer some advice.

P.S Zathans plus Guess breaker a good combo?

EDIT: Oh and just so everybody knows..I don't walk around with a popped collar because I think it's very lame. It just came up while I was putting it on.

:rainbow: Let me give you some advise on going blonde...(white) I do it every year. Looks nice in the summer months. I looked at your picture. Your hair is very dark , much like myself. It's not as easy for those of us with darker hair.
It takes me two day to go completly white (platinum). That's with a Redkin color specialist doing it. First time around I sit with bleach on my hair for over an hour. Once it begins to burn your scalp, it's time to come off. At that time I'm kind of yellow. I go back the next day for another bleaching, by then my scalp is real tender, so it won't be on as long. I do get very white. But I have to keep it short because the ends will not turn completly white. Since my hair grows so fast, I have to go in every three weeks in order to keep the roots from showing to much. Thats means more bleach. I never do the brows, the sun naturally lightens mine.
Just something for you to think about. ...... ;)

See..my hair really isn't that that dark..it's more of a mid brown..although in retrospect it looks a lot darker in that picture. It's been my experience from seeing women that dye their hair blonde that it doesn't look good when they have very dark features. But I've got green eyes so I don't think that would be a factor. I also had an Italian pal who had black hair that one day showed up with very bright blonde hair and he looked ridiculous. That's what I'm trying to avoid. Also..I've been tanning for a good while and my eyebrows haven't changed shades at all. I guess it comes down to I'm wanting to try something but I'm worried about it looking like an abomination when I'm done.

I wouldn't bleach... you'd get laughed at around here... but if chicks dig it round your parts *(assuming that's your goal) then go for it.

Bleached blonde hair never looks good. The only guys that pull it off, do so because their good looks make up for their hair. It either looks terribly gay, or just plain terrible.

:rainbow: Hey Man, remember it's only hair. If you dont like the way it looks, you can always dye it a darker color..it's that simple. Who cares what people think..when I do mine, everyone calls me Eminem...... not sure if he would like that or not...LOL

Like I said..it's only hair.... :)

tanning in a tanning bed? I don't think that lightens body hair as opposed to actual sunlight

Hey well I just made an appointment with the trendiest place I know of in the area. A regular haircut is $45 bucks..I've only been there once. I'll post pics of the results on Thursday assuming it doesn't look really bad.

Whatever happened to, ya know...looking masculine? That way you'll attract more girls and less homosexuals.

Nah bro I appreciate the honest opinion. I've been getting a lot of mixed opinions...usually two thumbs up..or down. It'd be immature of me to post pictures and then not want people to tell what they honestly think. It is, however, beyond me that the one guy is talking about not looking "masculine" enough on a style, fashion and grooming board. Seems to me that for most of history these have always been considered feminine issues and while the extent to which it should be taken to can be questioned, the fact that one is worried about "fashion and grooming" to begin with would speak volumes about "masculinity" to a large portion of society.

That's not true at all. You can be stylish in a masculine way. For example, me.

These are not feminine issues. Metrosexuals are feminine. The metrosexual trend is for those who need to leech off gay trends because they have no sense of personal style or self worth.

:rainbow: You are so wrong...gosh when are you people going to realize that not all gay men are femine. Most of us have our own personal style, and I have more self worth then you, because I do not have to go around disrespecting a group of people, in order to make feel like I'm more masculine.
Do you know that Berrnie Mack consciders himself a metrosexual...he is very masuline.

I'm not trying trying to start an argument, I just really don't understand your point...so let me put it this way. If one was out in public and heard someone say..oh..I don't know..something like one of the following:

"Diesel is kinda old news...many of their jeans are overly distressed." - Debaser

"Get a great brand though that's very slim-fitting (gucci, valentino). Or custom-made is good. You can actually get shirt's custom made cheap on target online, with a surprising amount of options. It won't be superfine egyptian cotton, but it will be very form-fitting, and that's what matters." - Debaser

They'd probably question the man's sexuality. The majority of the population would wonder because worrying about these types of things is not a "traditional" male view point. That's a fact and I doubt you'll argue it with me. Now, I disagree with it, I don't think it means anything other then the guy happens to like clothes and making himself look good. That's what I meant by style not being perceived as a male issue. It's why I don't understand how you can come on here and some how claim that a particular fashion statement (not the right term..but I can't think straight right now) is feminine or "gay." It's not like I'm trying to look like a bitch and wearing a pink tutu and purple tights....what I did do certainly has been done before..ie Cruise in Collateral, Ryan Cabrera and Christopher Jones to name a few; and if the truth is told, I'm sure I'd walk all over most "manly" men in a lot of athletic endevours or other traditionally "masculine" venues.

Ok, got it all done. It's not the color its supposed to be yet but I'm using this violet shampoo and I have to go back to the stylist in a week if it doesn't work. Weirdest thing is last year they charged me $45 bucks for a 15minute hair cut at this place and they charged me $101 for a 3 hour job. Oh well..not complaining.

If you didn't preempt all your posts with a rainbow smily, perhaps people would take you more seriously. That and you have problems with reading comprehension, because you didn't interpret my post correctly whatsoever.

An idiot might. If anything, saying that "those jeans are ugly, look at all the fake wear on them, what a poser" or "I buy shirts from target" would only reinforce masculinity. If someone considers style purely a feminine issue, then they don't warrant any dignification anyway. Even Maxim has a style section. So fuck 'em.

:rainbow: So...are you telling me that you don't take my post seriously, because of my smilly face. I just don't understand what the big deal is about my smily face icon. I like it, and he will always be included in all my post as they have been from the begining. Can you please explain this?
Just Pm me..I dont want this thread to turn into another topic, other then the one it had been intended for.

No, you wouldn't. Not in hindsight, at least. Reason being that you'd have a limb broken or be choked out inside of 20 seconds.

My girlfriend said you would look better if it was just a couple shades lighter than what you had done.
Then I said something.
Then she hit me. :spin:

Yeeh..actually all the yellow is out of it now and it's all platinum. I'm going to put new pics up as soon as my Windsor ones are developed.

Darling, Darling, Darling,

You should be very thankful to George for having me brought to this website, along with my years and years of fashion expertise. You are so adorable, Darling! Why would you go Jean Harlow?

Quite honestly, I do not enjoy highlights on men usually. Not to mention platinum blonde. But you have a very light cutis complex, so highlights might benefit you, if you do not go overboard. Please, Darling, for Uncle Freddie, consider changing your mind - I'll buy you a yacht if you do, OK?

Now, if you decide to be a rebel, promise to retouch the roots just as frequently as you change your underwear (I hope you do the latter very frequently)?

Freddie..you're too much. Jean Harlow? I thought you would have at least given me a Billy Idol..lol. I have no clue what you mean by a light cutis (skin?) complex? But..let me tell you, the current color looks 100x better than it does in those pictures. When I go back home this weekend for UFC52 I'll scan some Windsor pics and put them up. And just out of curiousity..why no roots?

Hey Tenoch -

FYI BBB is flirting with you. Are you a catcher or a pitcher?

j/k.

I just think it's funny that the only one here backing you up is the one who, uh, likes rainbow smiley faces at the beginning of his posts.

Well, I don't even suit up for that game..so no position for me. I have no issues against talking with gay people though. And..I don't really understand what he being the only one "backing me up" would prove. There's been at most 5 people that have commented..hardly a sufficient, or even random, sample. I'm not going to lie..looking at those pictures now my hair was exceptionally yellow and didn't look as good as it did naturally or it does with it relightened.

I suppose I oversimplified in good fun. It was just... ironic that everyone else was saying it looked gay except the gay guy who said it was not gay even though it may be feminine because gay doesn't mean feminine.

AT the end of the day, at least you ahve a full head of hair. That's what counts.

Gotcha. It does seem amusing when you put it that way. p

Lord help me....there are so many straight men out there that have gone blonde. examples .... Bruce Willis went blonde a few years back. He is not gay. Can someone please explain to me why you think that hair color and sexual preference go hand in hand?
I work at a salon, and it is a normal process for the hair to go to yellow before getting the look you wish to achieve. He stated that he was going back to get it fixed. So that is why I said I thought it looked good. I could tell that it would come out alright.
Tenoch, Im glad you did not view my thoughts as negative, as everyone elses were. ... :)

As for the Ball game .....lol .........I am a great catcher.... ;)
