Goddam thieving gyms

I am never going to pay for another gym membership except with cash up front. Fuckers at the gym I had gone to at home charged me for 2 months without authorization, ignoring my request that they not unfreeze my account until I personally came in. They were basically stealing 140 dollars from me at a time I had no income and desperately needed that money. They then refused to refund me for time I was not even in the same city for, and acted like they were doing me a favor by not charging me an extra 2 month early cancellation fee. Fuckers. I just needed to vent.

never do an automatic deduction from a bank account. Some banks will tell you the agreement is between you and the business. If the gym doesn't feel like stopping the deductions you're SOL unless you close the account.
Do automatic payments via credit card so you have some recourse.

I actually used my visa check card, so in effect it was being deducted from my bank account. I sure as hell learned my lesson from this one. I should've realized how evil that place was just by their contract. So many conditions where they can screw you over.

what can you do? nothing!! and they know this, all they have to say is you never canceled it. this is one of the major reasons that gym memberships are cheaper if you pay with credit card or automatically take it out of savings/checking
