Glute shots.

I fly solo on my injections, so it's usually kind of hard to do my own glute shots (although I've done it before). Lately I've been wanting to hit them again, but the damn needle just won't go in. I usually end up saying fuck it and sticking my thigh, which goes in very easy I might add. Anyone else do their own glute shots, and have trouble getting it past the skin?

Not really its a little bump and goes right in for me..You can try shooting it higher up maybe.Seems to push in easyer for me in glute,leg is harder to push.But i have learned not to work my legs before shot day,seems harder when there tight..But the top closer to the waste seems a bit softer there..Gl

I do my own glute shots,I also inject very slow with every injection in a attempt to avoid scar tissue,to get back to the post,if your having trouble getting through the skin try twisting the needle as that will cut the skin and make the injection all the easier,once your through the skin the needle should go in like a warm knife through butter(I also use a full height mirror to assperate).

I always sit down on a hard surface and stick the thing in the side of my ass. Works fine for me and I am definitly not flexilble.

To answer your question what gauge needle are you using and do you have high body fat? My friend is around 24% and its hard to get it in him sometimes... 23 gauge should be easy...

I also have a question... Does scar tissue heal? In 10 weeks if i have scar tissue in my glute can I shoot again or if i get scar tissue are my glutes done forever...

I size up the spot by flexing my ass, find the ridge of that muscle about 5-6 inches around the back from the hipbone and down maybe 2 inches, higher than I've read some people do, but my muscle is closer to the surface for me there.

23x1 with no problems. Hold it like a dart, push it with my pointer finger. I've only done 4, but I'm still amazed at how easy it is. Good sust+quality needles=butter.

I have a huge ass, so its no problem! glutes are my favorite shots. Well use to be, untill I started hitting my rear delts hard and gained 20lbs. Now its kinda a hard to do it while pressing with my thumb, I have to hurry it.

Whats the whole talk about scar tissue? am I gonna see it when I get older?

I'm using 1" 23gage, and I'm about 9-10%bf. Thanks for the advice fellas. I'll see if it will help me; if not, I'm just gonna jam it in next time. It used to go in, but now I can sit there and press the needle til the base of it is practically flush with my surrounding ass area, but the damn tip won't break through.

yup a drop on the tip helps me. what brand pins you using? Everyone may not agree but I can tell you one thing for sure as a sales rep, all needles are not created equally!

Bro one thing that may help is a hot shower (or bath) right before. Seems like the skin is a little softer to me when you do that immediately before

Ive heard this too,some claim they can be dull right out of the wrapper.I hit the same places pretty much and can tell some are shaper then others..I just jab it in not like its going to hurt doing that...yea got to gitter dun

I wipe the glute with an alchol swab which cleans the injection site and I think it also makes it a little easier to go in. There are definitly times that it is harder, but I alwys do glute shots, and always do it by myself, when it is hard I just push harder.

i do the alcohol thing, and I always leave a drop of oil at the tip. I'll try the twisting and right after the shower thing today and see how it goes. I usually do it after the shower anyway.

There is nothing like the left-handed glute shot...all twisted, back gets stiff, doofus left hand shaking and moving the pin all over the place...good stuff.

I was thinking of doing it lying on my side - but my last shot resulted in a bit of a gusher all over the bathroom floor...don't want that happening on the couch.

Anyways.. Kirishna - I have the same problem. I dont enjoy glute shots b/c of having to twist to see what I am doing. I usually do the same as you and hit up the thighs.... I'll have to try the twisting method. thanks!

Agree with this question........I have never done it slow, that seems like dragging out the pain/anxiety. I jab as quick and fast as I can and I never feel anything (w/ the needle going in that is).

Twisting and stuff???? What's the purpose of that? Jab quick and get it overwith. Intriguing question, why would anyone want to go slow & twist?

That's what I do with my girlfriends(that's right) and they are plenty happy.

No way I go slow ALWAYS. I can usually tell if I'm around nerves or veins if I go slow, and I can manuver around them. Fast is more painful IMO, especially if you hit something.

Dunno how big you are but I have to use 1.5" to get deep into muscle tissue.

Also do you get it out of a vial? The rubber top dullens the pin. If you do buy twice the pins and trade a fresh head onto the drawn needle.

I cant go fast and spear myself. While I go slow I cant manuever around veins and nerves yet. I guess I need a better GPS. Ive never had to try the twist and shout technique.

True there is no manuevering if I hit a nerve it's just gonna hurt, but it's an in andout job I see no reson dragging out the process. I mean I don't slam it either. It's about at the pace youwould go if you where gonna throw a dart quick and steady.

Yo I'm the COMPLETE opposite of you bro. I can't stand to jab my thighs, the quad muscle half the time reflexes when I stab and that freaks me out right there...just a weird feeling...makes it hard to talk about On the other hand, my arse gets hit in so many areas in so many ways you'd think I'd be getting paid for all that ass I been giving up.

Same Technique here. One time I just couldn't get the pin in all the way b/c of scar tissue, and that shit hurt like a bitch...so I pulled out and injected elsewhere.

I wonder how many of the AF members insert the needle fast or slow?...Humm that would be a good poll.

It is all about what you are comfortable with. Personally I go slow and steady, then slow on the plunger to make sure the oil dispurses, maybe 60 seconds per ml.

I always get that wierd semi-nauseous feeling when the pin is sliding in - so if I just gunned it in there I don't think it would be good. To each his own, as long as you are alive aferward, its all good.
