So i have been just taking ON Whey PWO and have been told a lot about glutamine on this board.
Some people tell me it isnt absorbed well orally.

Can anybody give me any information on glutamine and feedback when they added to there PWO shake?

glutamine isn't absorbed AT ALL orally. You'd need to take it through an IV to get any befefits

Let me correct that statement. L-Glutamine is absotbed by cells in the small intestines. L-Glutamine is used by the medical profession as a treatment for digestive disorders... Lo lie, look it up. It does nothing for muscles orally

Pretty much. One of the biggest scams ever, IMO. Jury is still out on peptides, though. Probably better absorbtion than L-glutamine----MAYBE.

Related thread here.

Check T-Nation for more on l-glutaime; there may also be some articles on peptides.

I have to agree with omega on those comments. Protease is not the only enzyme that breaks down protein. Also acid will not break chemical bonds. This is what the enzymes are for.

Protease , Pepsin, Bromelain, Papain, can all digest proteins and the effective PH Range is 3 - 9 on For Protease not 1.5

Also this does not include the general situation of taking glutamine peptides with other food thus the acidity of your stomach is raised since it is having to break down more food.

Anyway there is solid evidence that the amino acid glutamine is denatured in stomach acid

This quote from part 2

A recent study from the journal "Metabolism" shows that glutamine injections following glucocorticoid (ie catabolic steroid -such as cortisol) treatment can increase protein synthesis in the gastrointestinal system of dogs.(16) Unfortunately, nonoxidative leucine disposal, a measure of whole-body protein synthesis, remained unchanged in the glutamine treated group.

This is how glutamine is used in the medical world. As a treatment for digestive disorders. I generally take it for this purpose... To help me digest food.
