glucagon

It works with insulin to maintain homeostasis of blood glucose levels. Insulin will lower it, and glucagon will raise it, working together for a "normal" state. It breaks down glycogen stored in the liver. I think it gets created in the pancreas and intestines...I may have that wrong.

Why do you ask? Are you on to something? :D

secreted from/pancreatic release (i think alpha cells), mobilises liver stores of glycogen (big chains of glucose) and i think skeletal muscle glycogen as well

is secreted in response to lower blood glucose levels, as blood glucose rises insulin gets secreted.

From my understanding, I thought its released more when insulin levels are low (low carb intake). It causes the body to use fat for energy. Or am I on the wrong page? hehe

When insulin levels are high (high carb intake), fat loss from glucagen is non-existant or very low. Thats what I was to understand anyway. Who knows really.
