gloves or no gloves?

do you guys and gals wear gloves? if so, what kind? fingerless? wrist support? plain leather? wrist wraps? knee wraps? what accessories do you wear at the gym to assist in your workout?

are you serious about those rough hands? i get the impression that you're not, but anywayz your hands will 'get used to it' eventually.

I don't use gloves, cause I can't afford them, however I don't think I want them either. Just a comment on people wearing gloves, I hate those people who come into the gym who think they're gonna get buff and don't know jack ballz bout weightlifting. Not saying that people with gloves don't know stuff, just saying that gloves ain't gonna make you mr. beefcake.

I wear gloves. I found when I went really heavy the bars or dumb bells would push on the bones in my hands wrong. It hurt like shit, and would cause me to quit before I could fatigue my muscles. Maybe it's just the way I'm built, but they really help me.

Y'know, I wear gloves too, just basic leather ones with no fingers. For $9, I thought they were worth it.

I hesitated buying them because I didn't want to look like some poser that wandered into a gym.

They help with my grip, and help a little with callouses, although I wasn't as concerned about the callouses.

I plan on using wrist straps for back day, just because my grip gives out before my back does.

Yeah, Harbingers are by far the best. None of those Nike crap.

They keep your hands from slipping, so you can concentrate on the muscle you are pumping instead of forearms.
They also gives some support on your wrists.

Besides, you look all cool with them. :)

I never wore them until I got a pair for my birthday, and now it wouldn't feel right without them.

One day I couldn't find them so I went to the gym anyway.... started each bench press set with my regular grip, and by the 8th rep I had an ultra-wide grip. Sucks.

Iwear them also. Harbinger gloves are good, but they wear out too easily. I have went through 2 pair in about 8months. My workout partner has a pair of nike gloves, and they have lasted a long time. I like the wrist wrap gloves the best. Gives yor wrists pretty good support when you need it.

I really should get a pair. I work out on a swim team 4 days a week, so the pool dissolves my callouses daily. The end result is my palms end up looking flaky.

you gotta wear gloves...

i was a gymnast in hs and did the parallel bars and high bar... so believe me... i am not afraid to get calloused hands.. for those who dont know what your hands get like... they are pretty much torn to shreds.. until your hands get calloused enough to take the beating...

the harbingers with neoprine are the best gloves ive experienced.. and they are only $12

i had to be careful when going up a girls shirt in hs cuz my hands were so rough and i would scratch the shit out of them.

so .. gloves. definately.

I can't believe the number of MEN here that are worried about baby soft hands, LOL!!!:spit: :FRlol: :lmao:

NO GLOVES and Lots O Callouses..
I even wear my wedding ring even though it hurts and digs in.
Guess I'm whipped...

No gloves!!! I've ripped more than a few calluses off doing heavy deadlifts....;)

I wear gloves that I stole from the doctors office, you know the rubber ones, plus they already have powder on them. I even wear em when I'm not in the gym!

I always thought gloves felt awkward when I used em...all I use now are wrist supports cuz my wrists sometimes bother me when I go real heavy...no problem with the supports

I kinda wear gloves, it's called chalk. Gloves make your grip weak, but I guess it's a personal choice, for girls.

im 6'2 288lbs .....

No gloves.

Use some chalk and have at it.

Besides - it's great fun to peel chunks of dead skin off your hands only to have it grow back with no adverse effect.

If you're worried about germs - then use soap and water after you're done lifting. Maybe even Purell to disinfect.

BUT if you want baby soft hands - get some lotion and work rub your hands (or whatever) with it.

I use glove because I have very sweaty palms and the bench bar at my gym is worn down to shit so I start with a close grip and end up not even being able to put the bar back up on the support because my hands have slowly slipped to the ends of the bar. Yes the gym is a shitty gym and beleave it or not the do now have a way to control the hight of the support bars.

I use gloves especialy since all the bars at my gym are brand new. Those things are like new steel files. Using gloves won't kill your grip if your really concerned with your grip get one of those "eagle catcher's or plier style gripy things. BTW your hands will still callous using gloves just not tear and get all shitty.

And there is NO way in the world that chics like bloody, scabbed, shredded hands on their body. (at least not the chics I would be interested in)

If you like the feel of "cold steel" join a gun club.

In the gym I go to, the only men who wear gloves weigh 150lb, use straps and a belt on EVERYTHING, shout and scream on every rep, spend the whole time staring at the ladies who are trying to train, think isolation exercises are the only ones worth doing and wear either very short shorts or lycra and a wife-beater. Maybe its just coincidence......you have to love university gyms :)

Gloves don't do a lot for you, just protect your hands but that is really nothing, my preference is neither, sometimes a pair of gloves will help hold something especially if your hands are real sweaty or your callices hurt extremely bad. buy a pair and see how they feel, but i wouldn't use them on every lift for every exercise no need to. only when you need them
