Giving up the career you've worked so hard for

well is this other job, which brings in fewer bucks, truely a dream job if it's the bucks that make you happy?

Basically i'm in loans now and work all day, even the weekends, the calls never stop and I hate sitting down

All i've been doing for the last 6 months is saving up to buy landscaping equipment, yes, lawnmowers, scags, a truck, etc. I just love working outside and staying in shape. I want to start my own. I have about 4 years in HS landscaping and a few in my college summers but I don't know the biz aspect. My idea is to start residentually and gradually get into commercial. Save save save, all I do, I don't even go out anymore, I CAN'T go out :(

Without sounding like something coming out of a Disney production, you just gotta follow your heart and do what makes you happy. Sure money is important, but life's too short and happiness and satisfaction is way underrated.

for another that you've always dreamed of that earns you less $$$$

who's had experience, was the transition worth it? Stories highly appreciated (I need motivation)

If you work just as HARD for the career you DREAM about, instead of the career you hated...

You WILL earn more $$$ in the long term.

Just to fix your philosophy there. :)

Oh and pay attention to your career counselor in high school - instead of waiting for mid-life crisis to tell you your career pick was wrong :)

This is some good advice.

Just curious, do you know much about landscaping etc?

Perhaps you could even switch jobs to working at a golf course or a resort or something (not sure where u live) to learn a bit more and save a bit more money.... just my 2 cents.

do what you love and never look back. money isnt worth happiness. but 9 times out of 10 if you do something you love you wont make enough money, so you got to get a second job doing somethign you hate....who knows man, luck plays a big factor in everything
