girl talk forum? I did not even know there was a such thing
Well the fact that male members can read the board is the main reason for it's inactivity. Girls really don't spill the beans to one another if they know guys are watching.
110% agreed! I've got a couple of things I'd like to bring up and there's just NO way, uh uh. You can't say anything on that board without some guy barging in and tossing his two cents when it's neither wanted nor appreciated. They mock our diets, our weight training routines, female BBing in general. Who the hell needs that?!? I know if something's really nagging me I'll PM another female member I trust.superqt4u2nv said:

My gf has recently started posting there and it seems people don't reply for a good day or two.
Seems you don't mind posting "supposedly embarassing" content, you just don't do it very much.

In the past women have been attacked by dipshits who decide its appropriate to horn in on a legitimate conversation. And the attacks are driven specifically by the fact that the post are by women. We have a zero tolerance on that and our mods in the past have been very quick to address those things. But just in general, it's just proved to not be something the girls even want to bring up in an open forum anymore.
The constant discussions about equality etc, still have points where it just isnt' practically feasible to be open and assume you will be able to safely & confidently post very personal things. You also see that by the greatly reduced occurrence of the women posting up body pix. They still do, but much less often than they used to - a few of them resulted in being stalked both online & in real life.

I think its just the internet attempt to accommodate the situations that arise. I'm not saying its the best answer, but its an attempt. Some forums require registration and clearance by a mod for access. Some don't bother even having one. There are other "all women" forums out there that discuss "female things" as well. Personally I guess I can take or leave the Girl Talk board.

What's the point in the forum then? Does it have any purpose anymore?
The point is the things we wish to talk about are only with other female members. As soon as that board opened any thing that a male member found entertaining they posted a link to it in C&C. They did get a slap on the wrist for it but the fact is that board would never work as it is now. We are not going to tell our darkest secrets knowing guys are watching and getting entertainment from it.jd_uk said:

I have moderated message boards, I realize mods can't be everywhere, at every time (and I'll be f*cked if I'm gonna play the "MOD, so and so posted something that made me feel bad," especially when there are some mods who are as tempermental as operatic divas and twice as unpredictable ). The stuff usually gets taken care of, deleted, or bombed into oblivion, but the point is, who wants to f*cking deal with it?? You post up something and you get some rude a** comment, it's immature and uncalled for. Or the ever popular, random "chicks who lift weights are disgusting," that's a real feel good thing.

What's wrong with not wanting to hear the odd "show us your tits" "he's cheating on you" or the ever popular "yeah, you're probably just on the rag."
And if you'll remember back, the issue came up that there should be a private men's forum, and I don't remember ONE woman who said she'd be offended, but over and over it came up, let's make it truly PRIVATE. Girl's forum, guys forum, works for me.
Finally, I've NEVER, EVER had SH*T handed to me because I'm a woman, and I resent the living SH*T out of any man who implies I have! I've busted my a** for everything I've ever gotten and in fact had to work TWICE as hard as any guy and got HALF the freaking results (like with weights) or recognition (in my past professional and personal life).

Some of the stuff on that board is girly stuff. Some of it is questions that arent' really "fitness" questions - and occassionally some private stuff. I guess I dont' see it as a bad thing and it certainly doesnt' hurt anyone. The ratio of male to female members on EF is very skewed to the guys and most of the boards are sort of by default, facing towards & contributed to buy an audience of guys. Women questions might get lost in the volume of threads on here. The questions could I guess be distributed to the different categories of board here, but the audience of the Ladies' board does allow us to get the concentrated audience there w/0 the posts getting lost in the larger number of generic or guy-oriented posts. Not saying that guys' posts are all intended for a guy audience, but again, being practically feasible here, the ladies' board as it stands does meet the needs fo the women on EF and also does give us a focused forum for stuff we talk about. I dont' think its a bad thing and I don't think it detracts from the rest of the boards.
