this summer i bit the bullet and got six veneers put on my front teeth. it cost me a small fortune and was WAY more uncomfortable than i expected but totally worth it.
i had braces as a kid so my teeth were decent. my lower teeth were really nice but the front ones had yellowed and worn down as i have gotten older. i tried the laser thing and the trays but the results were disappointing at best. i had some bonding which looked great but all chipped off in less than a year.
getting six veneers is the same thing as getting six crowns at once. they drill your teeth down to nearly nothing, then the dentist has the new veneers made at a lab. for a month i had to wear temporary teeth, which kept coming off. it was a pain in the ass.
i had to go to the dental lab where they fit the teeth to your smile and face. they suggest a color that will look natural. i am caucasian but darker featured. people with darker skin naturally tend to have whiter teeth. i was insistent it was to look natural. out here in so cal it is not uncommon to see someone with teeth that are TOO white and it looks all phony.
twice the teeth did not fit perfectly and had to be reordered from the lab. they have to fit like a puzzle. i was furious at the time because it meant two extra LONG dental visits of being numbed and drilled. the dentist was was very embarrased. i must have spent over 20 hours in that goddamn dentist chair.
finally the veneers were put in and i gotta say it was worth all the money and time. my teeth look really nice and natural. i am thrilled with the results.
