Getting Crap From Your Siblings...

My 76 year old mother had some recent surgery. I called her daily during her recovery but my siblings played the "victim" card with me. I encouraged her to do what she could do physically and not cater to my opinions but the more she exercised the healthier she was. Acquiescing is a bad thing when you're focused on the greater good. I love my siblings but damn...

I know that I'm the "golden child" but I have my mother's best interest at heart...I pay for everything...I buried my father two years ago...I'm trying to keep mom alive...I don't want to give another eulogy in the near future.

She's a tough woman. She's rejoined her singing group and is going back to work next month. She knew what she needed to do and I called her everyday to make sure she did it.

Yes, you are correct. She needs to keep up her strength and also by doing so she will keep up her self esteem as well. Last thing an older woman/man needs is to be "broken down" to feel incompetent and then treated as a child. She needs to get up and do things, not push herself but do as much as necessary. I would not be waiting on her, well yes..Right after surgery I would but then I would slowly encourage her to get back into the groove of things!

Hey, I feel you...My sibs wont be around when it is time to bury my parents either. My oldest bro just started a family at 37 so yeah he is poor. and my other bro is a heroin addict so I doubt that he will help out financially..thank god for life ins policies!
