getting bicep cramps when i flex

Hey guys, question, Why am I getting bicep cramps when I flex them, I have to really warm them up with light weights, before I start going heavy or I get bad cramps. Thias normal?

Lactic acid build up or straight up cramps?
Make sure you've got a good balanced intake of water, potassium, and salt. Lacking anywhere can cause cramps. You can also throw in 3G of taurine before lifting.

Muscle cramps are usually due to being dehydrated or not having enough electrolytes in your daily diet.

Here are some tips for reducing muscle cramps:

1. Make sure you are drinking enough water through out the day. 5-6L per day minimum. Remember that stimulants (coffee) and alcohol are diuretics and don't count towards your total.

2. Make sure you are taking in enough electrolytes (think sodium, potassium, magnesium and calcium)

3. Supplement with 2-5g of taurine per day. Ideally you would put it in the water you drink during your workouts and sip on it through out your workout

4. Often neglected and over looked, make sure you are stretching after each workout and try to incorporate foam rolling a few times per week into your program to help remove lactic acid from tight muscles.

Also try stretching before, during and after workouts. I noticed that helps in long run when I start to cramp up in a certain muscle group.

It is mostly related to water and electolite balance in your body, so you will most probably solve that problem by following @muskate's suggestions. I also get cramps from time to time, but then I drink more water, and everything gets back to normal rather fast.

It is really tough to say because as Steve mentioned, they could be pumps too. You definitely want to be hydrated as already pointed out. Are you running any gear?
