Anyone know how to go about getting a job a door staff? I need a job for the summer and it is something i would want to do while im in school since it's in the city and there are clubs around me.

yea just go in and speak to the manager...and dont go on and on about how you can kick ass etc, they want problems avoided, not skulls cracked

As do I. I'd rather not have to waste my time and energy, intimidation usually solves most problems.

in most developed countries you have to do a course (mainly for legal reasons) but after that, the guys are right, go ni and have a chat to managers of clubs and security problems, demonstrating your physicaly proficiency, but also ability to identify and get around problems verbally, not escalate etc

(i work door here in oz)

cheers

intimidation rarely solves problems.

being able to look after yourself physically and mentally helps.

beingt able to calm a situation works wonders.

you can try and intimidate a gang of ten all you want but the problem will prob be solved by them.

i worked the doors in mcr 13 years on some rough ass clubs, funny really, i never heard anyone say they lost the fight because they didnt bench press enough.

make sure youre mentally prepare3d to do the job, somebody is relying on you and if you cant back the intimidation up with knowledge and skills somebody will get hurt

Where's the best place to find the manager? Nighttime or daytime?

daytime for sure, those are the guys who usually do the hiring and all the paper shuffling and whatnot, the nightime managers aren't going to be bothered with evaluating potential help, at a busy club those guys are walking around constantly keeping track of the money and/or other miscellaneous problems inherent with the nightclub biz. Even at smaller clubs where the manager is the same night or day, they still want people coming in during the day.
