George Foreman Grill

Do you guys own one of these? Let me tell ya, I really enjoy using mine. It does a great job cooking, plus clean up is easy. I especially use it for preparing red meat. For those who own one, what are your comments?

I love the thing. I got the big one, and can cook a dozen chicken breasts at one time. Its clean, easy and fast.

I have one, and I love the damn thing! I guess I'm such a small wimp because I have the really small one.

IT KNOCKS THE FAT RIGHT OUT!!!

i believe every household should have one i thought it was a joke when i seen it on an informerical god knows how long ago but they're great

I don't know if you guys have these in North America.... (I couldn't find one when I lived in Canada).... but VERTICAL GRILLERS work much better than Foreman Grills or anything similar.

It's basically like a toaster with a heating element on both sides.... you sandwich your meat between a folding metal thing and slide it in.... so it's vertical. Which means the fat actually does drip straight off, unlike some of the Foreman-type grills where it just sits there and fries the meat or doesn't drain off at all. And there's almost NO clean-up!! You just gotta wipe the metal thing if there's any stuff left on it, but there's usually nothing because the bars are so thin.

Trust me, I had a Foreman Grill when I was in Canada and it was okay.... but vertical grillers are superior in every way. Cuts more fat AND easier and faster to clean. If they exist on the market, you guys should look into them. They're the best thing for cooking meat.

I love mine, use it in my University rez room all the time, quick, easy, tasty, etc. I like to put frozen chicken on it, go shower, and by the time I get back, its nicely cooked and ready to eat. great for cooking almost anything

a mate of mine said he was able to use his to cook eggs, any ideas on how the hell you could do that???

I've heard from a friend that steak wasn't that good on a George Foreman. Any comments on this, any particular steaks that are better than others on the Foreman?

They are great for Fish and Italian sausage, but I don't like to cook chicken on it. It seems to dry it out to much, but maybe I am just cooking it for too long or something. They make some great grilled cheese sandwiches too!

pushing_fe, yeah you are probably leaving the chicken on too long. As soon as its all white on the inside I take it off, otherwise it becomes WAY too dry.

I just have some regular ol' steak and it cooked like magic. Put Montreal Steak Seasoning on both sides (not too much) and grill it. Trust me everybody...get Montreal Steak Seasoning! Add it to your grocery list!!!!! It's in the herbs and spices aisle.

If someone doesn't like steak cooked on a forman grill it is probably due to the relative lack of heat produced. It just doesn't get that seared crust that makes steak so good. I'm not sure why people like these grills........ They are harder to clean up than a frying pan, take longer to heat up, don't get as hot, and don' have as many uses. I say just get yourself a good cheap pan and call it good..

I've been meaning to get one for a while now. I heard good things about them. I never heard of or saw these vertical grillers but ill look into them. I still like the ol BBQ for a good steak.

I took mine to college with me. The grill rocks! I fix a lot of different things on it, plus it's easy to clean up. I hate having a lot of mess in the kitchen.

I actually used the george foreman grill for the first time today...made chicken breasts. Anyone notice when cookin the chicken breasts that there is a brown sticky liquid on the grill after they are done cooking? Im assuming its just the chicken juice. Also can you cook frozen chicken breasts on there? I defrosted mine first.

Let me guess, you like your steak well done? Being a former steakhouse waitress, steak in general tends to lose its flavor & tenderness the more it is cooked.:theranger :redhot:

...not my personal preference, but getting back to the topic, I've found my GEORGE FOREMAN grill to be one of the best purchases I've made in a long time! I've recommended it to friends, co-workers, and any interested parties.

Here are the Pros:

***FAST - the unit reaches "ready to cook" temperature in less than 5 minutes. everything cooks in 10 minutes or less...any longer and you risk overcooking your food

***EASY - all you have to do is season your meat (if you are so inclined), throw it on the grill, and keep an eye on the "fat catching tray."

***INEXPENSIVE - $39.95 for the model I have - It holds 4 medium burgers..."plus a convenient bun warmer on top."

I've cooked burgers, fish, chicken, pork loin, steak...all kinds of stuff on the grill. It comes with a little booklet that outlines the cooking time for the type and weight for various kinds of meat.

The clean up is a matter of timing--I squeeze a wet sponge over the grill (while it is still plugged in and hot) to help clean the grill without much elbow grease. Be careful of the STEAM that will be produced...:kaioken: you don't want to get a steam burn! You'll find this much easier to deal with.

Overall, it's a great addition to your daily regimine if you are looking to have a clean AND good tasting diet. I am thoroughly pleased with my Foreman grill...heck, I should own stock in these babies because I know I've helped to sell dozens of them!:D

You people aren't listening to me!! Get a vertical griller.... it's easier and better than a frying pan, even.

 I can't find this thing you are talking about.

I gave mine away - I rather cook on my outside grill or broiler - things didn't taste that good on it plus a pain to clean - everything stuck to the grill.

I live in Australia, and they're not even THAT common here. I don't know why, since it's easily the most useful cooking appliance I've ever owned....

.... but I did live in Canada for a while, and I couldn't find one no matter where I looked. Perhaps there's a patent on it, and the market doesn't extend to North America.... I really don't know.

But if you can get your hands on one, it's better than the Foreman Grill x 10,000.
