Generic versus real paxil

Iv e been taking paxil for my anger issues and it helps..The real paxil had a great side effect of prolonging orgasm. I could go indefinitely. Then due to cost I switched to generic paxil and the magic was gone. My stamina is back to normal..anyone else experience this?

Sounds a bit suspect to say the least that the change to generic paxil has anything to do with the purported change. The two are chemically identical providing the doseages and time release are the same, and more than likely the maker of the trademark Paxil owns the generic company given the rights to make the generic Paxil. That is how the big drug companies do busniess now days.

On a bigger picture, SSRI's are famous for sexual side effects and it is only now starting to come out how little research the big drug companies put in the the side effects of the big name SSRI's and there is considerable evidence that the big drug companies minimised the short term and the long term sexual side effects of SSRI's. The FDA has been recieving a great deal of complaints due to the persistent sexual side effects of SSRI's that continue long after a patient has stopped taking the drug.

So what often happens is the patient becomes depressed again due to poor sexual functioning and now they want to put you on another pill to correct that. How conveienient $$$$$$

You hear negative things about generics but a lot of this could be due to a "reverse placebo" effect - people think it isn't as high quality therefore they don't think it works as well.

From what I understand they still undergo testing and FDA approval.

You might find more info at uPharma. They don't sell anything - they don't even have ads. It is just for info.

The link to the site is here: uPharma.

They also have a blog: uPharma blog

unless you've taken meds like that before, you wouldn't know. no matter how many links you post.

and that's a VERY signficant qualification my man.

My best friend was without insurance for years and was obligated to buy generic Paxil. She bought two different brands actually, both from Indian pharmaceutical companies. When she recently got insurance and took Paxil brand for the first time in her life she suffered some substantial side effects, including nausea and severe insomnia. She had to drop the dose by almost half to get the same therapeutic effect without sides she'd gotten from the generics.
