thats munny. i already got a job for Grant Thornton in houston waiting when i graduate but Im still shopping around just in case something comes up that I like more. to be honest the IRS is coming to campus to interview for Revenue Agents and I would rather work for them instead of GT. The pay is higher than youd think and we all know the benefits of the fed govt. 40 hour workweeks are kinda nice also.digimon7068 said:i got a masters degree in taxation a few years back. . .doubled my income two weeks after i finished the program. . .and got a $10,000 signing bonus at my next job. . .nice. . .

I know what you mean and I looked into that job, its for the treasury dept. the only problem is I would have to get past the fact that I dropped out of the Marine Corp Reserves in 1994 when I was 19. Im guessing that strike alone will DQ me from being something like a CI with a badge and a gun for the Fed. But a regular Revenue Agent might work for me.digimon7068 said:if you're gonna do that, see if you can get into the criminal investigation division. . .one of my buddies that i worked with a few years ago joined the "dark side" and he's a criminal investigator. . .he loves it. . .it's a lot more fun than just doing friggin' audits, plus he has a gun and a badge, so everytime he flys anywhere for business or pleasure, he flies for free because he's an "air marshall". . .gotta love the dept of homeland security![]()

I got through basic which is considered 90 days active and then stopped going to monthly drills a few months later so no I didnt have 180 days either way you look at it. There is a "thorough background check" for this IRS job so I explained to the recruiter that I have a DD-214 but Im not claiming veteran preference and I explained why. I figure its a good idea to get it out in the open up front instead of hiding it and hoping the government doesnt find out in the background check (which is impossible for them not to find out because its the fed govt). So the recruiter had to forward my email to someone else in the IRS who could tell me if its a problem or not.redguru said:Was it before you had 180 days in service? If so, it should only DQ you from being in the Military proper, not some other agency.
