i know i saw on the news that it was not going to go down any time soon.
I checked today it is about 2.79 per gallon here, and it sure does suck!

yesterday i paid 1.40 per litre. (5.60 per gallon for the yanks).

half an hour later i was on the phone to the regional manager of KFC organising pick up and delivery of used oil. need some decent schematics for a biodiesel setup now.

This was todays Daily News local story....

"Gas prices were up another penny a gallon on Wednesday, up to a national average of $2.80 cents a gallon. According to the Utility Consumers' Action Network, the average price was considerably higher: $2.96 a gallon. And it wasn't hard to find stations in the county that were selling gas for more than $3 per gallon. One station in Pacific Beach, for example, was charging $3.36 for a gallon of self-serve regular unleaded gas.

The highest average price San Diegans have ever paid for a gallon of regular is $3.05, just after Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast. Charles Langley of UCAN said that $2.96 a gallon is the most local consumers have ever had to pay at this time of year.

The good news for consumers -- if it can be called that -- is that oil prices backed off of Tuesday's record highs of $71.35 cents a barrel.

The Associated Press reported that the current average of $2.80 cents is an increase of 30 cents since last month and is up from $2.22 a year ago.

Motorists have been feeling the pinch for several weeks as gasoline prices spike. Analysts said that crude oil prices are likely to climb as long as the geopolitical risks -- including disruptions in Nigeria and international tensions over Iran's nuclear program -- threaten supplies at a time when global demand remains strong and supplies remain tight.

The national average price of a gallon has soared by about 10 cents a gallon in just a week. Still, national gas price averages aren't as bad yet as right after Hurricane Katrina last year, but experts say prices probably have not peaked.

Gasoline inventories typically decrease this time of year as refiners shut down plants to perform maintenance ahead of the summer driving season. And oil traders typically point to the decreases as reason for concern about summertime supplies, a routine that, more often than not, sends futures prices higher.

That said, there is additional worry about summertime gasoline supplies this year because of the prospect of tight supplies of ethanol, which is needed in increasing amounts as refiners phase out their use of methyl tertiary butyl ether, or MTBE, which has been found to contaminate drinking water.

Meanwhile, if you think things can't get worse, be thankful you don't live in New York City, where one Brooklyn gas station is charging $4.50 a gallon for premium unleaded. The station's owner said that he has no choice in the prices."

Our prices are still WAY lower then the rest of the world.

People will just lower their useless spending and adapt. Little will be affected in driving which is a need. Gas companies know this.

We have been told by our consumer division of the government that because the USA has expressed terms of invasion to IRAN, if IRAN doesnt stop Uranium enrichment, that fuel prices are going up faster than ever, due to the unstable nature of IRAN-USA.

Put pressure on the oil nations, the price goes up.

Thanx a fucken lot Bush you cunt.

Is Bush trying to out do Hitler? fucken nearly there.

maybe I am ignorant of facts involved here, like bomb making, but this is shitting me like you would not believe. gasoline is now NZ$1.72 a LITRE! for premium

The new Lexus hybrids (I particularly like the GS hybrid over the LS hybrid) are bloody amazing. Excellent performance with great fuel consumption. I think hybrids get a bad rap for being tame in the performance department, but Lexus hybrids perform better then their non-hybrid counterparts from what I know (ie the RX h over the gas only RX).

well, of course they perform better than their non-hybrid counterparts, they normally have the SAME gasoline engine+one or 2 electrical engines on top.

lol, unless your KFC's are different than ours, that oil is wasted. Full of water and flour... two things that are not coming out easily. I guess you could take heroic measures and end up having to wash your final product 20 times, but with that shitty of oil you can kiss goodbye any chance you had of bubbling out yoru methoxide and using it again.

Im getting a damn bike! Cost me 48 freaking dollars to fill up my car! waddabullshit

lets see.... I have a 26 gallon tank X $3 = me biking it to work
BUT
When you factor it this way... 26 G. tank X tax free fuel from farmer friend = i'm still driving. ;-)

Whiskey
