Gaba

I have been having an argument with the woman who runs the gym I go to and wondered if anyone here could clear this up for us.

When I was training 'naturally' I used to supplement with GABA.I took a small amount before going to sleep each night. The woman who runs my gym is a WABBA qualified instructor and has experience of competing and AS herself, her husband is also a masters BBer. She says females should never use GABA. I understood that GABA aids restfull sleep and recovery and can increase natural GH production. I have looked into the biochemistry of this although cannot quote it right now. My main question is that I have never heard it was an unsuitable supplement for female athletes and my gym owner has not been able to give be a viable argument as to the reasons behind this.

Could anyone enlighten me on this subject?

Hmmm, I can't. But maybe post this on the Supplement Board also...you might get more input there???????

Hope you find your answer. :)

I did post.No joy.Also posted some Q's about Vanadyl Sulphate.No answers there.

Ginger, VS is pure crapola. there was a ton of hype over it ten years ago but it was all hot air.

For a sleep aid combo you might try some melatonin (for the old noodle) and magnesium (to relax your muscles). Zinc in the form of ZMA supposedly increased endogenous T, but was never proven to do so, and a lot of people (including me) dont believe it does due to personal experience

As for GABA itself I just cant remember enough about it to say much except that if you're a little bit older and your endogenous anabolic hormones levels are beginning to droop then GABA may have some anabolic effect, but even that was kinda iffy.
