Funniest gas boycott idea i've seen!

Body: Gas Boycott that makes sense

We are going to hit close to $3.00 a gallon gas by the summer, and it might go even higher!!

Do you want gasoline prices to come down? Then you, me, and all of us need to take some intelligent, united ACTION.

Phillip Hollsworth, offered this good idea: This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy gas on a certain day" campaign that was going around last April or May! The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to "hurt" ourselves by refusing to buy gas. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them. BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work.

Please read it and join with me.

By now you're probably thinking gasoline priced at about $1.50 is super cheap. Me too. It is currently $2.15 for regular unleaded in my town. Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a gallon of gas is CHEAP at $1.50-$1.75, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace... not sellers. With the price of gasoline going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of gas come down is if we hit someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their gas! And we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves.

How? Since we all rely on our cars, we can't just stop buying gas. But we CAN have an impact on gas prices if we all act together to force a price war.

Here's the idea:

For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY gasoline from the two biggest companies (which now are one), EXXON and MOBIL. If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit. But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Exxon and Mobil gas buyers. It's really simple to do. Now, don't wimp out on me at this point... keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!

I am sending this note to about two hundred and thirty people. But if each of you send it to only ten more (30 x 10 = 300)... and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000)... and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth generation of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers.

If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed it... THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!

Again, all YOU have to do is send this to 10 people.
That's all.

How long will it take to reach THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE? Well, if each of us sends this e-mail out to ten more people within 24 hours of receipt, all 300 MILLION people will be contacted within the next 8 days!!!

Now I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you? Acting together we can make a difference.

If this makes sense to you (and it sure does to me), please pass this message on. It certainly makes much more sense than just complaining about it and feeling powerless, that's for sure.

Then just continue the boycott against Mobil and Exxon until gas prices lower to the $1.30 (or lower) range. This really can work, if only Americans will get involved. Won't you?

=====

SIMPLE TAKE ACTION REVIEW:

1. Do NOT buy gas from Mobil or Exxon.
2. Send this to everyone on your list who buys gas.
3. Encourage them to do the same.

What? You're still reading this? Stop. Send this email to your list right now.

And remember: NO MOBIL, and NO EXXON.

You can do this.

=====

Still don't think this will work? Then just imagine if no one bought from EXXON and MOBIL for just one month, or even just one week! Get the picture. This can work, and it will work, if we Americans will work it.

So do your part. Do it now. Then boycott MOBIL and EXXON. Thank you

Please re-post!!

I remember ESSO up north and then when we moved to Texas in '72 (I remember gas at .19/gallon) it was ENCO down there

we have 2 company accounts at Chevron
still though on the road I seek out Chevron,I suppose I've been sold on the techron marketing
though if I didn't have a brand loyalty, and presented with say 4 options from 4 reputable filling stations at an interstate exit
I'd select the station with the least amount of vehicle traffic simply because time is money
unless I spotted some sick-ass legs filling up,tanned and shit
then I'd pay a quarter a gallom premium just for the visuals

Is Texaco owned by Exxon or Mobile?

I thought Esso was an Exxon sub.

What about Canada?

I think wherever you are, the point is to buy gas from Mom & Pop, rather than ANY large corporation.

But then again you risk getting shitty gas too. I hear the Russian organized crime is big into shitty gas (cut with kerosene and stuff) that will fuck yer engine. So be aware of the risk.

lmao

I tried to organize that 2 years ago. Bastard is stealing my thunder.

It would work. If enough people stop buying from a major retailer, they will capitulate eventually. Don't have to do it for the rest of the year. A month would probably be enough.

a sunoco vp wrote that message..

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you do realize Mobil & Exxon sell their old to pretty much EVERY gas station in the US. Regardless of the shop you buy your gas from they all share. It's a straight Oligopoly

Exactly. The mom and pop places all get their gas from the big ones like Exxon or Mobile. So this wont work. Although, it's a nice idea.

I was just gonna say don't turn this into a chain email/letter....Digger will be pissed!!

And this is a double edged sword for me, since I have stock in Exxon/Mobil, enough to pay for a year's worth of gas from dividends alone at these prices. But, if it's for the better of the country, and is only until gas prices return to reasonable amounts, then I'll try it out.

I doubt E/M will let themselves get into too much financial trouble.....and I'll be watching their ticker.

I'm sure that exxon and mobile have TONS of subcompanies... its worth a shot, but I doubt it will work. Too many people don't care enough yet :(

It would be better to just start pouring the gas all over the ground and blowing the gas stations up. That may make the prices go down.

:lmao: I actually thought of that as a joke too.

You were joking, right?

that's quite a bit of stock in one company for a young bucko! good job! you work there? Actual it was on a Watchlist of one of the stock newsletters I follow a few months ago.

I believe that over the next few years, we will see a fundamental shift in the supply-and-demand balance for oil and gas. We are consuming more, but now into the equation comes the burgeoning economies of India and China, competing for scarce resources. When I look at the market for integrated oil companies, I see ExxonMobil head and shoulders above the other majors, in terms of return on investment and lower enterprise value-to-free cash flow ratio. Extremely high prices in 2004 boosted profits to record levels. In the short term, higher oil and gas prices may not be sustainable, but the long-term trend is ominous. Owning Exxon shares may prove a good hedge against further increases.

Pretty basic stuff, but I also hope this doesn't happen as my family has more stock in that company than any other. lol, I'm not too worried. I'll even join in :D
