Is your business cyclical at all? For some reason I was thinking about this yesterday. Like, when business is slow do you say "Eh, nobody dying no more"? Do you anticipate a big upswing once all the baby boomers start croaking?

i think you need to consider if peeps like his bizz or not.
think about it, you fuck up one funeral no one in that family will ever go back to sparta's bizziness again...so maybe slow periods could be explained by people using other funeral homes for whatever reason

A few of my friends built spec homes and have been struggling to keep their heads above water. One guy has close to $30K/ mo in payments in a market that just keeps getting worse. A realtor I used to do a lot of work with that was making a shitload of money for the last few years has gone to work at Home Depot. It sucks ass right meow.

Holy Shit I hope I don't end up at Home depot.

We should start a funeral home.

Or, get a beer distributership.

there's 2 funeral homes in our town
the other has been here for 30+ years
back in 1994 our first full year with a one year old funeral home(we basically bought a new place) we did about 20% of the business
now in 2007, our best year, we have about 80% of the business
also too forensic sciences refers all of their cases to our place for embalming and shipping because we're the best in the area(out of a dozen or so funeral homes)
Alos too we have the local airforce base contract and handle all their deaths

I mostly do the bookkeeping and accounting now and make appearances at funerals
every other weekend I'm on call for embalming so I still embalm around 4 a month

Hey Spart, there is an established funeral home here, it is very well known and one might say "for the upper class" peeps, about a year ago they open another one that is strictly for the hispanics. It has a Hispanic name, the services are done in Spanish, etc, by all the people in the obits who are using it, it looks like they really hit a home run. I think that somebody is onto a gold mine, I'd bet it would work anywhere.....

What do women thing about your business? (besides they like it because you make good money)

My grandfather works for the county coroner. He tells me they get plenty of old peeps who die on the shitter. Lots of other weird shit the public really never hears about also.

My wife is an RN, I think SugerTits works in the emergency ER as well now that I think about it, I remember her telling me there's reason for that...

in the last 2 years new orleans has been the destination for many, many hispanics/latinos.

their work quality and all around work ethic has greatly impressed me; much more than that of the ghetto porch stoop setters residents here who feel it is "beneath their dignity" to do the dirty clean up jobs needed here post-katrina.

Authorities: Woman Goes from Funeral to Bar

HAMILTON, OHIO - A woman accused of driving drunk and causing the death of her 6-year-old son was temporarily freed from jail so she could attend his funeral. But afterward, she went straight from the church to the bar, authorities said.

Erin Howard, who has been accused of involuntary manslaughter, was supposed to have reported back to jail after the services, United Press International reported. She allegedly caused her son's death after smoking marijuana and drinking to celebrate her 26th birthday before driving home June 14.

Now, she's also charged with a third-degree felony count of escape.

I used to know someone who ran a funeral parlour - actually he was a friend of a friend and I must say I have never seen a good person so fucked up from drugs before. You name it, he was taking it.
