fuel injector cleaners... good or just a gimmick?

if your car is older with high mileage it may do opposite, and release all that junk into your injectors and fuck your shit up, i did that once and ended up needing a fuel pump the next day

I never really noticed a difference in my small engine daily driver cars like a corolla I owned. But I do know it makes the Viper and Mustang *very* happy. Those big engines can be cranky, especially if you don't give them premium gas. I notice a quicker start for the first few weeks after I put in a bottle of a good brand. If I had a car with a little engine, I wouldn't bother. I don't put it in my benz, I just don't think it would make a difference. Weird, I know, but just what my experience.

Good if used as a prophilaxis, not useful if you've let things get bad enough to need service.

Good, but not a miracle.

If injectors need to be really cleaned - they have machines with chemicle baths that do this... but they have to be removed from the vehicle so it comes with a significant cost.

I'm ASE Master certified this is correct and the only REAL way to clean injectors....when cleaning is needed you will definately know

theres a station here in alabama nearby that has 110octane racing fuel
the two cats on my supra are in my garage

Hell, if you want just inect water in your intake, that'll take it out.

dude dont post that and not qualify the statement. That's seriously irresponsible.

If you use that method it's got to be a tiny amount of water.

I wouldn't want to try this with a fuel injected car, but in the bad old days of carburetors, some guys would pour automatic transmission fluid down the carb while the motor was running, to clean out deposits. The trick was to pour in the whole quart, without stalling the engine, so you had to be careful how fast you poured. After that, the car would bellow huge clouds of smelly pink smoke. Follow that with an "Italian tune-up" -- running up and down the block at WOT a few times, and an engine suspected of excessive deposits would usually run a lot better.
