Ive been doing p ullups before my bi+back workout, to exhaustion. Just go 25 today!!

FUCK YEAH

ok, ok I am 6'5" 165lbs but still,...this is a big thing for me. I'm looking to gain weight soon too, I'm gonna start protein shakes.

Man when I was in 9th grade I could do 15 pullups easily, probably go to 20 for complete failure.. But now, im 22 and I'm in much better shape then in 9th grade. My bench is 3times that much etc etc.. But i have a hard time doing 8 pullups lol

6'5 and 165 lbs.?! dayamn, that is a long way to go when you do pull ups, bench, or any exercise for that matter. sheesh... just wait till you start SQUATTING, you will wish you had shorter legs... lol

good job stankngogger! do you go all the way down on your negative? if so- you are the MAN! i hate watching people get on the bar and do half reps- and think they are doing full ones..

Dude--that is tight! My partner and I went in tonight to see who was the shit on the pull-ups. Anyway, he did 16 and I did 18. So you must have one helluva back on ya bro. Way to go!

Did ya ever notice that trying to do more sets of pull-ups after a failure set is an effort in futility? We did three sets tonight, all to failure. I did 18, 9, 6. It seems like you are just wasted after an all-out failure. Maybe its just me...

25 pullups is allot? Damn, dont join the military guys, you'll never get in the chow hall! When I was in ROTC we had to max out and most guys do at least 25-30, of course most of them are skinny little guys so that makes a differance. My girlfriend finally was able to do a real pullup, she was real happy about that, its funny cause I have a guy friend who cant even do 1!!!! what a weak ass. When I do back l hit out about 15-20 but then you get burnt out on them.

WTF??? I don't think we're all talking about the same kind of pull-up here. I'm talking about wide grip, overhand style. You must be talking about close-grip, underhand style when you say, "most guys can do at least 25-30".

No actually you cant do underhand style in the military, you have to do them overhand style. You do know that it makes no differance if you do them wide grip or semi wide grip- it works the same muscles. If you do them everyday they arent that hard. AT Ranger school you have to do 25 in perfect form to be able to get in to eat....so obviously most guys can do them. They aren't doing super wide grip just normal grip. I find them easier overhand then underhand.

Actually it makes a big difference, the wider the grip the farther away the fulcrum is.

Picture a seesaw. Now the farther out the person sits the more weight they account for just as the farther out your grip is.

Your muscle is at the fulcrum right in the center of that seesaw, trying to lift that person up, do you thin it would be easier if that person was sitting close to the center or at the end.

Also, varying the width also plays in the amount of bicep work involved, true a wider grip cuts down the ROM slightly however, not nearly enough to account for the added difficulty.

No wonder you were sent to the military you dumb grunt :) j/k
