Well last night we had a few drinks and went to the river right behind my house to offroad. About a year ago I had a brand new Land Rover and I sunk it and totaled it. I swore I'd never go down there again. Well it hasn't rained in two weeks so I figure it was was real low like 4 -8 inches or so. I had a few chix with me and decided to go down there.
I haven' t taken this one off road yet, but I have lockers all the way around and a snorkle kit. We drove about 25 miles down the river no problem. Well on the way back we decided to stop and shoot some guns. We walk about 100 yards from the car and when I get back it is sunk up to the skid plates and is sitting on the frame. No bigt deal it's a Rover Right. Well I guess I busted off a sensor that tells it what gear to be in. I was stuck in 2nd and couldn't get enough power to get us out. I slam it in low, but it starts off in second so there isn't much torque to get it going. Some and these girls are diggin in pretty much quick sand and it is sinkin about an inch every 30 minutes. I deflate all the tires and try everything. I call the wrecker and he says he will meet me at the bridge which is 15 miles away. I'm an avid runner so I went for it. I make it 5 miles in sand and about collapsed. I finally made it to where the wrecker was waiting and he said he couldn't take his 20 ton rig down in water. It was 2 inch water and sand the rest of the way. ( I know he can because that's how they got my last one out) Everyone I know is asleep. Finally I get one of my friends with a truck and a trailer and we bring his big ass john deer tractor out there. The girls called and said it's up to the doors and water is slowly leaking in. Well my playstation, DVD, amps, navigation are all mounted on the floor and were covered in water.
We finally get it out and there was abour 5" of water in the foor. I didn't start it and towed it behind the tractor to where the wrecker is waiting. Then had it towed to the dealer. Now I'm waiting on the news. I told them to flush everything before they start it up.
I feel like a dumb ass. This is the second time this has happened. I buy these high dollar cars that are ment for this kind of shit and totall them. I have an old Bronco that is worth about 3k and it never gets stuck, and if it does I get it our and it never breaks.
For all you 4X4 experts, what could that sand get into? The water didn't get up to the motor. Are the transfer case, tranny, diffs, sealed inthose things?
Oh I have a new Rover for sale if anyone wants one
