Frustrated with my mid section....

kentucky

New member
I have been losing alot of BF lately while replacing it with newbie gains, and my midsection is really frustrating me, and I can't figure out what's up...

I'll try to explain...

I've lost about 4 inches in 2 1/2 months, and when I turn to the side, I can tell a BIG difference. However, The majority of the fat is on my lower abs, BUT my problem is, the part of my abdomen that is closest to my sternum, sticks out further than my lower abs. It looks like I'm bloated or something (but I'm not)... AND when I tighten my abs, it sinks in, and looks like it's supposed to...

So what is my problem, are my abs just not tight enough yet, or what?

Firstly congratulations on your progress! That's more htan most ppl have done!

Anyway to ansa your question:

stubborn fat

Be patient and keep upthe hard work, good eating and cardio... it will take time to lose it unfortunately since that's the first place fat goes it's the last place to leave :(
Not trying to discourage you but it took me 5 years to lose it. If you lose it too fast you'll regret it because you'll have saggy skin in that area. Just be patient :)

Try an EC stack with Yohimbine or an NYC stack. it might help

but it's not really the fat that is bothering me, it's the way my top part of my abdomen pooches out... It pooches out pretty bad unless I am tightening up my abs...

Good job bud!

I am in the exact same boat as you! I have the same upper stomach design as well.

I have been dieting for around 4 months and have gone from a XXX to a tight large. It feels great!

I have a ton of flab left in the lower ab section and I have love handles.

My advice is take time off dieting and build the upper and lower body a bit (balance it out a bit). That is what I am doing.

There are many advantages to doing this, most of which I am sure you are already aware of.

Dieting for too long has negative effects on physical and mental well being.

GROW!

Well, my problem is kinda the same, BUT on the lower abdomen, it just sticks out and looks ok only if I contract the muscles.

Dunno what´s up with it, it can be visceral fat, or I can be intolerant to something (wheat, lactose, whey???)

I don´t know if these kind of things can happen in the upper region of the abdomen as well.

By the way, if anyone knows what´s up with this bloating, please help.

thanx

Lower abdominal fat is really stubborn and usually the last to be burned off. Be patient and work hard on cardio and ab training. Pay extra attention to your diet and keep everything in check. If you want those abs to fully show you must be ready to work even harder!

Hmm I see....

yeah I am thinking of doing an extensive food intolerance test (you should probably try doing it too, Kentucky) so it helps me on my goals...

As for losing stomach fat, I´m only on my third week of cutting, and by the end of the 2nd week I´d lost 1% BF, from 16 to 15, weight stayed the same, which is great!

However, I want to speed things up a bit, and also target the stubborn fat area. What supps do you recommend? CLA? Something like Hydroxycut? Or rather T-rex??? I´m really undecided on this one. I´d either go with one of those or nothing at all! :)

thanx

What you are describing sounds nothing like fat to me, just sounds like when you are not tensing your abs they are a bit rounded?

Sounds normal to me. Don’t forget that all the pics you see of BB's and models etc. are all pumped and tensing for pics. I think most people will have a rounded stomach if they let it hang out.

If this roundedness is more serious, you could have some abnormal bloat in your stomach however, agree with Assassin that it could be an allergy to lactose, wheat or something...

I already had extensive allergy tests done... I'm really allergic to sunflower seeds, but that's all.

Fat Rat, You are right in your understanding. I'm not asking quesitons about the lower ab-fat, I know how to get rid of that.
My problem was just the roundedness of my upper abs, they just seem to be alot rounder than they should be...

my abs are the exact same way my upper is huge compared to lower and makes me look liek a big bloat. i beleive mine is due to extensive heavy ab work and swauts and deadlifts. it may just be muscle. if i am picturing what u said right. casue u sound like me and mine is just how my abs grew up top but not as fast downlow.

it sound like you are hearing it right...

I know good artwork, but here is what I look like from the side...
without any contraction at all... It makes my clothes stick out, unless I contract it.... what's up?

yeah that pic looks like me from the side. i beleive mine is just muscle and slight bloat. after i eat for 30 minutes it is huge an di mean huge there so i look real funny. but i always have that little bit. i just accepted it and the more i train my abs the bigger ti gets and the more like the pic i become.

I think fatrat hit it on the head. When you see pictures of guys with midsections like you want they are always flexing their abs. I guarantee you that even guys with six packs can still have a rounded belly when relaxed. Take someone with a bit of fat still covering their abs and then have them relax and it makes it look even more exaggerated.

All the dieting in the world may get rid of the fat but it's not going to make hundreds of feet of intestines and other various organs dissapear. Learn to walk around with your abs firm all day if it bothers you. I don't mean fully contracted, just enough to keep them flat. I wear tight shirts and have a pooch on my lower abs as well, but by keeping my midsection firm you can't really tell. I do it without thinking about it, just natural to me like breathing. It would be uncomfortable for me to walk around with my abs relaxed as they help to keep your torso straight and give you good posture.
