Frustrated in TO

I am getting really down and pissed at not being able to find something full-time (in IT field)... I've worked damn hard to earn diplomas and a degree, *and* worked part time all the while ... For what? To nicely cover bare spots on walls.. :p If it wasn't for workouts and meditation, I would have seriously lost it.... Sorry for the rant... just frustrated... feel a bit better now...

Jobs are just hard to find now. My good friend who is a computer programer has been looking for 3 months, and is still looking.

thanks for reply Dr. Noe... I'm going on 8 months... :( I hope the saying 'All things come to an end' is true in this case for all who find themselves in this situation. :(

I blame the major employers (like Nortel). They totally fucked Canda's IT industry....and they wonder why all the experienced people go to the US. Assholes.

Anyway, I'm just about done a degree in Information Systems, and I'm thanking God right now that I'm in a double degree program. So when that Info Sys degree turns out to be worthless, I'll have a Commerce degree to fall back on. lol :D

If I were you, I'd consider a move. Houstan and Atlanta are hot IT spots right now. Most programmers with a few years exp can find good work down there (better cash too).

You are looking in the wrong city. Go to Ottawa.....IT has taken over the whole fucking city!!!

Katina networks, Corel, BNR, and marconi are all hiring at the moment.

Good luck!

Ottawa is improving now... about 6 months ago it was pretty rough.

I've been laid off twice in a year and finally decided to focus on getting a job with the feds. Ahhhh job security and pension to go with it, only 31 more years to go.

Thanks guards, malhavoc!

malhavoc: Sorry to hear about layoffs... how has everything been since? LOL at fed job :)

I seriously think it's time to make a move... all this rejection in this city is torture.. most recent.. call centre credit officer.. hiring freeze... and it was with company I was with before I left to go back to school full time... same type of position also...

What's a good approach? Contacting companies directly, and then going to area to look around for a few days? Anyone have any input or advice?

All my efforts haven't worked... networking, online apps, snail mail and email apps, letter followups, temp agencies, phone calls...

SofaGeorge: I have goals... and persistance... but my patience and self esteem are taking a beating. :( Your words did get a smile on my face though, thanks :)
