FRUIT..........in your diet........

This has been beatn' up quite a bit lately, so I'm curious.......when IS the most opportune time to eat fruit? Say 1/2 grapfruit or a banana etc.....Obviously restoring liver glyogen is NOT something you want PW.......so, is 1st meal of the day (possibly after a brief cardio seesion) an opportune time?

Wasn't really my ?, but thanks........I know bananas are high on the GI factor, but the grapfruit is a pretty solid fruit.......plus, it goes well with oats and coffee in the am....

COuldn't tell you...but oats with a side of grapefruit and splenda is pretty decent........

Is that the concensus? 1st meal of the day?

i have no problem with fruit in the morning.....I think SC is against fruit and milk.....as is Mr X.

99% of the guys on this board that are going to tell you fruit is useless in bodybuilding look like they skipped the fruit and went right for the ice cream anyway....so yea the fruit is fine!

I eat a banana for breakfast and an apple during the afternoon (basically an hour before workout or so)

I haven't seen any adverse effects but that's just me. I may not be as low in bodyfat as some of you though so it might affect ya more. JMO

i eat a fruit bar a day thats about it.

:)

A lot of people are against fruit.

I can still diet with it - I just drop it and rice around the last third/quarter of my diet.

In summer I slice up oranges and grapefruit and throw them on the grill - toss in tupperware and by the time I'm at work it's lukewarm, butter soft and sweet.

I think you just have to test what works for you.

Fruit have so many benefits that it would be a bad idea to avoid them

^ Curious what benifits to fruit have that a multivitamin and a bowl of oats can't give you?

Phytochemicals

and it has been proven that some nutrients are more bio-available when they come from "real" food rather than pills

I've heard that you end up pissing out most of your multivitamin anyways. Your body supposedly will not assimilate all of a multivitamin in one big dose.

i like eating a banana post work out, along with 1 apple and 1 orange throughout the day. dam, oranges taste so good

Okay, how about this. What can fruit do that a plate of green veggies and cup of oats won't do?
