hey, what do you guys think about front squats? you think its a good idea to incorporate it in a leg workout? or do you guys think its just a waste of time. ive heard good and bad feedback on it, just wondered what you workout gurus think. thanks.

I cannot do back squats yet (as of the moment) due to a shoulder injury... they are the meat of my leg workout... I have had substantial leg gains while using them. I also added in Zercher squats... combined with stiff legged deadlifts, I have a full leg day. :)

I rely on Zerchers to boost my sumo deadlift. I do them ATF. They get rotated in about every 2-3 weeks. They have helped my erector strength in the squat plane immensely.

citruscide - how far apart do you space your feet for your stiff deads? which width hits the hammies better?

thanks for the repy bros, but what is the "Zerchers " squats.
im still doing back squats but ive plateaud on them, and so im looking into other legs exercises. i still love leg press, the lunges. thanks

I keep my feet about 6 or so inches apart... I can hit my hammies tons better if I rock back on my heels as I go down... I do feel TONS in my glutes.

As for Zerchers... I do feel it alot in my ass as well... I feel it all over... my abs too?? Oddly enough.

I really like front squats but it jacks up my shoulders too much. I have zerchers penciled in for the next few weeks.

Front squats are great when you need your quads to catch up to your hammies, or if you want to burn out after back squats. They are tough to get used to but the weight you use is a lot less than normal squats

c-ditty, the front squats (any compound move for that matter, but especially zerchers) hit my abs damn hard.

This one time, on the women's board, I was talking about zerchers hitting my abs, and Arioch asked, "You know what that means?" and I said, "What?" and he said, "That means you're doing it right."

True story. True story.

This is what I like to see. ATF. :)

Something tells me that you might have strong legs........

Any coorelation?

cool; really appreciate the feedback!!! i did a search on "zercher" squats, and doesnt the bar dig into your forearms? but it does look interesting so im gonna add that to my leg routine. is it better to start off with that or end the workout?

ARGENT, when doing the front squats i use the cross-arm method and the bar just digs deep into my delts, guess ill try to wrap the bar with a towel.

thanks again.

I do both front and back squats.

I find the front squats have helped my ability to get ATF. They are also a really good core exercise that hit lots of stabilizers.

No it fucking hurts my shoulders(not delts) in a bad way. It hurts bad while I'm doing the set even with light weight. Then after I rack it, it hurts like hell. I'm debating hether I should get the Sting-ray, but I haven't heard too much about it and I don't want to be a weanie.

I've got the penciled into my ME cycle. I'll let you know next week. I was going do use them as an assistance excercise b/c my biceps have been strained and don't want to put a giant strain on them such as when doing a triple or single of zerchers.

Gotcha. Let me know how it goes, please. I never feel the cross arm hold in my bis, but if your pain is in the brachioradialis, it could be a problem.
