I've only managed to talk to a couple girls while doing cardio. Its kinda awkward, but you can definately pull it off once you make yourself say something to them.

you see this is the part that always happens. if a woman is in a relationship, you have to wait for her to break up, and then wait for her to recover. sometimes it can take up to 2 or more years before she's available.

I dont know, maybe I cant say this accurately since I've never broken up before, but I would think that it wouldnt really take me that much time to recover at all. I would be 'female hungry' right away.
