Situation
There's this girl in my program that I'm quite fond of. She's the cute type, shy, modest (maybe it ties in with the shyness), and smart. I made casual conversation with her like...five times this term, since I rarely go to class. I can't see anything negative.

Information gathered from mutual friends
-she never talks about guys, but I'm mentioned at random
-she asked another girl about me
-thinks I'm very smart (don't know why), very nice
-excited about the prospect of being friends with me over the summer (uh oh)
-rates 7-8/10 on the religious scale (Judaism) - could be a problem since I'm Asian, don't know if that's relevant or not

Progress
-have her msn, haven't started talking, she added me but I think she wanted biochemistry help or something...maybe not, I can't tell, I didn't see the conversation between the mutual friend and her when the contact was given out

What to assess from this?
So my question is, should I pursue this further? And if I should, how would I proceed in doing so? I'm 19, haven't dated, kissed (don't know how to be honest), or done anything with a girl. I would love to have the experience...especially with this girl.
-won't be in school together from Jan-April, we will be in the same city (we're both on coop workterms - basically 4 month period internships)

If you like her you should definitely go for it. Just be yourself, and be honest. That way you know she's in it for you, and not some false perception of you.

how did you find out she's excited about being friends with you over summer? how/why is she planning that far ahead?

When your asian, do u mean oriental, or like hindu/muslim. If your muslim im guessing her parents won't be thrilled, which means your filling the wrong boy role. If not then provided she's liberal enough not to be clannish like some (not all but a lot) of jewish woman i knew then you should be good. If your oriental i get the feeling you stand a better chance with a white chick than say someone black or indian but thats a huge generalisation from me on observations of jewish people

You need to get her telephone number, chat to her informally over Xmas, and then eventually either invite her to an Xmas/new years party, then go for the date....invite her to coffee or a film. You'd have to bite the bullet at some point so why not go for it?

The Blue Balls Dragon: First, I think this is a fake story, bc you say you are an Asian that rarely goes to class. (BTW. you should be going to class) Anyways, You should go to class an be friendly to her. On the way out ask her where she going (another class, etc) If she say no where or she has a break for and hour, then say "lets get some coffee" (or lunch whatever) And, don't ask her if she wants to. Just assume she wants to. While you are with her give her a couple of compliments on her looks and body. (but don't kiss her ass the whole time.) Let her know you are a man! Not, a "friend" who will give her chemestry notes.

Don't worry about religion!! Just bang that horny christian!!!!!!!!!!!

I heard "she was excited to be friends with [me]" from the mutual friend. I'm actually chinese, and yes, we can skip class :P. I'm soooo white washed though, it's not even funny...I can speak 2 European languages, but I can barely get my chinese dialect.

Unfortunately class is over, my last exam is tomorrow, she already left for TO Wednesday...but I'm back in TO this Saturday...but this break I have to learn statistics for my job, present some research poster to be presented at some medical conference, and start on that clinical review :(. So I'm gonna be really busy :S, maybe during the actual work term I can pull something off. From what I understand, I should meet with her a few times just so we can see each others personality and just schedule subsequent dates from there?

I think you should be direct and go ask her what her intentions are; it's quite simple. You'll find out one way or the other what she wants from you and go from there. I say break shit down to the basic level, and build from there. A woman's eyes don't lie, you'll know what she wants and how bad she wants it -or- if she simply wants biochem homework help.

What is wrong with the kids now a days? Ever since the cave men, when guys meet a hot girl the try to bang them!!!! (not try to get into a long term relationship) Weather it be hitting them over the the head with a club or just taking them to the movies and trying to grope them. And, girls are supposed to hold out or use sex to establish the long term relationship to procreate. This must be why guys have no leverage anymore. (That and all you ass kissers)

I normally don't think like that, I'm aware of the dangers of and ridiculousness of that logic lol. It depends on the actual girl and to what extent you like them, for some reason I'm not sexually attracted to her...I know there's something really wrong here.

I see your point though. If it was all as you said it was, why not live off call girls? Expense?

I wouldn't have issues playing mind games to lay a girl I don't give a shit about, but this girl is different. The whole player thing seems so misgynistic and abusive, not that I care that much ;), but I don't want to do that to this particular.

Witty, how were you able to manage that? I thought women don't fuck/date people who are poorer or lower in social class than them.
