Forgot to swab the area b4 injection!

I with drrman on this one, I know it's a good practice, hell I'm a RN and work with surgeons that don't even swab bottles/skin. I honestly don't even bring alcohol preps home anymore. You got those natural macrophages working for you. I usually inj after a shower.

EXACTLY gauth, i've actually read studies where they say swabbing with the alcohol is a waste of time, read them in the past when this has came up, but i didn't want to quote that or say that because i didn't know where to find the studies, and i couldn't remember that word "macrophages"

man oh man you guys are gonna stress this fucker out, again in 8 years with literally THOUSANDS of injections i've never once swabbed my skin, the stopper yes, but never my skin.......and i've taken as many as 21 shots in one day before, 8 shots of PGF2 in each arm, 2 shots of IGF and 2 shots of HGH along with a shot of test/eq etc

21 shots!!!!!!!! Holy mother of God...I can bearly muster one a day....I gotta admit for the first 15 years I never swabed my skin or top of the bottle or anything. I just recently started swabbing cause i brought home a little bottle of IPA to use on my brother....He wanted to be put on HRT...I wrote him a prescription so its ok.. Anyways....I figured hed take the bottle of Sus home with him and give himself his own shots....i was wrong...so I just started using the IPA myself...And just because he wouldnt give himself shots i gave him 500mg sustanon in the shoulder just to teach him a lesson...and it sure did

got to remember all but one of those was an insulin syringe!! just saying i didn't swab with alcohol.......hell i could stick a few insulin pins in my eye they are so small!!!

Diabetics rarely swab. I view it as just another thing to help swing the odds a little more in favour of getting a hassle-free life.

I've used a needle three times. I kept drawing blood so I'd pull out and stick again. Third time I got no blood so did the injection and then got a huge gobbet of blood when I pulled out. I guess on the third one, instead of sticking into a vein I'd gone straight through one.

Chances are you'll be fine mcfakerton. If not then you'll handle it and move on. It's all part of the deal when you decide to use.

More than likely you will be just fine, just remember next time.

The bacteria normally found on your skin, staph areaus (spelling), if not swabbed correctly could , small chance be injected into your tissue, were it is not normally found, causing an infection, staph infection, which could lead to an abscess.

Hope this helps.

I have started so many IV, gave many shots, swabbing the site as well as the vial is second nature to me. I guess it can be taking for granted.
