Ford lost 12.7 BILLION dollars in 2006... how will that affect me buying a Tacoma?

My thread is 5 pages and I ain't come back to it after the first page.

All this shit talking and I still don't know if it is going to be an easier purchase for my toyota truck.

Won't matter. The company will survive in some form even if they have to file for bankruptcy protection from their creditors. The people who will lose out are the buyers of junk bonds and the banks that loaned money.

General Motors and Ford may someday exist under a different name but the products will be the same....

Kind of like how Kmart became Sears Holding......it's the same Kmart underwear that still sucks.

disagree.
the name is what sells them vehicles
most important thing they got...if they sold the company the name would always be the same

Bs...

If I took the Chevy Corvette and renamed it the Gambino assfister......people would still buy it.

People buy cars based upon look and what it has.....

GM could one day dissolve into bankruptcy and come out as American Motors..selling the same cars and trucks. People are still going to buy a Corvette regardless of what the name of the parent company is.

The assfister comes in a 6 speed coupe.

If this were true, then Hyundai would be were they used to be in car sales....NO WHERE!
They are top ranked b/c they build good cars. It used to be a joke to buy a Hyundai!

lol @ assfister

Toyota has no reason to drop prices or haggle on them, due to demand.

Hence why many of the complaints from Toyota owners are the Dealerships
and their baditudes regarding pricing and service. Not the vehicles themselves

Lexus is a diffferent animal.

I'm thinking Brand matters to many over content. Mostly those that don't
take the time to research etc for a purchase.

An example of this Brand vs Content would be the IBM Thinkpad
sold to Lenova..

They kept the IBM Thinkpad branding and sales were the same.
Then, they changed only the brand name to Lenova, and sales dropped.

Same exact thinkpad, different brand..

Yea,

Toyota is loaded with a shit load of smart nips and American people making decisions..

Little things like building the new Tundra F150 killer in Texas where more trucks are sold than anywere else.

all you opro-management/union busting poeple give me a major case of the red-ass.

WHERE do ya'll think benefits like these came from?

8 hour per day/40 hours per week work schedule

paid vacations

breaks during the work day

paid holidays

pension plans

the salary you are making now
Those benefits came from employers having to compete for employees. If they didn't, then those benefits wouldn't be there with or without unions.

So you're asserting that companies are just greedy, soul-less entitites that will do anything to make a buck, correct? I wonder how executives get such great perks and stock options and salaries without union help. There is no "executives" union -- I bet those guys are getting screwed! Perhaps they should unionize and get more pay and benefits too.

Or could it perhaps be... just maybe... that the competitive market for management personnel drove their pay and benefits up? Naw... I bet those same greedy companies are just wasting dollars and overpaying "from the friendly, generous, bottomless basic goodness of management's corporate heart".

And now I've read two additional pages of this garbage too and its just more finger-pointing at management. Great. At the end of the day US workers will still lose jobs and/or pay more for cars once Japanese firms own the American auto makers.

geez, ok. this is what you do. you want to get a low ball price on a tundra? then go to http://www.edmunds.com/tmv/new/2007/toyota/tacoma/index.html and then pick out a model and then punch in your zip code. then you will fill out the info. then you will have 4-5 toyota dealerships fighting over you. they will email you and tell them what you want and that you are looking for a great deal. internet shoppers usually get the best prices. you should also shop at the end of the month too because that's when you get the best deals. to all you cheap bastards out there who want to nickle and dime a dealership then this is the way to go. go ahead and reverse crush the dealership and salesperson.

btw, this thread shouldn't have happened. you spent $30,000+ on a door. you door is nicer than the door of the 2nd richest man in america.
