For you "Trekkies"

I dlon't konw if people wnat to see a 3rd generation of Star Trek characters. All within the same generation. It's kinda cheesy.

I like the originals. Then Picard and company came long - but they didn't pretend to be the originals. Now we got a whole new young cast. In 10 years, we do it again?

Thank god Lucas didn't subscribe to this formula of re-creating Star Wars over again with new people.

When Star Trek:TNG came out everyone was skeptical but it ended up being even better than the original - and lasted for a long time. Then DS9, Voyager and Enterprise went way too far and the franchise kind of tanked. Hopefully the new blood can make things work again because the original concept is still solid.

Nothing wrong with a new interpretation. I watch the original series and kind of chuckle to myself. I couldn't wait to watch the episodes in syndication after school but now they just seem so cheesy but they also were an important part of my childhood. :)

Oh yeah!! I'm excited for this. I got my parents the whole original series on dvd for x-mas 06. Grew up on Star Trek, so it will be interesting to see how this goes.

Cheers,
Scotsman

I wouldn't lump DS9 with Voyager and Enterprise, it was maybe the best series of the whole franchise, with a great ensemble cast.

I enjoyed DS9 when they started making it a storyline; Once Sisco shaved his head.

Made me want to watch each episode like I was a kid again.

Yeah, it took a season or two to find its legs.

But then so did The Next Generation. I just wish that Denise Crosby would have stuck around long enough for the series to get good.

Did you know they originally cast Genvieve Bujold as Captain Janeway?

Oh -- has no one checked out the new episodes on the link I posted above?

There's so many Star Treks now that I lose track. I'd still like to see the movie, but without the TNG cast, I'm overly excited.

I did and it looks interesting.

Ya ... because shit thats "welded" together could most certainly handle warp speeds.. I wouldnt be surprised if we see duct tape somewhere on the hull.

looks unbeleivably stupid.. just like the majority of Star Trek films. I hated those campy ass movies.

That's why they have inertial dampeners bro; It could be made of paper. :)

I'd get thrown off the Jedi Counsel for clicking on those links.
I once watched a flame war on a message board, "Star Trek Vs. Star Wars who would win in a fight" thread; It was a sight to see.

I'm reporting you to the Jedi Counsel. They're gonna take your cloak bitch.

you're too busy putting your light saber in a dishwasher safe artificial vagabino.

DS9 offered continuity between episodes. Only Babylon 5 was doing that at the time.
Plus, the political intrigue was another interesting aspect of B5 and later episodes of DS9.

New Voyages is kind of fun. The hook is that they're making the "fourth season of the original five-year mission." The producer is an Elvis impersonator who's done well enough to finance the whole show (Paramount says "you can go ahead as long as you don't make a penny off it"). So he cast himself as Kirk. :D

There is so much demand out there even for bad Trek, they completely blew up their first couple of ISP's... even though their first episode sucked hard. The second was remarkably better, if a bit over-written; by the third they had professional writers on board, as well as veteran actors and technical people from the original and later series, all itching to show their chops again.

Fourth one was scary good, and the next one is getting serious media attention -- the NY Times had a report on it. They've also hooked up with a new streaming technology company who uses them to show off their capabilities, so server capacity is no longer a problem.

Someone said "Denise Crosby"? She's in that next one, which was written by David "Tribbles" Gerrold. It was originally intended for Next Generation but turned down as too edgy for network TV; he has rewritten it to fit the original series and gave it an interesting hook by bringing back Captain Kirk's nephew, whom we saw orphaned in "Operation: Annihilate!" back in the sixties.

(Yeah, I'm a geek. You got a problem with that?)

(They don't list the first episode on their site any more -- the first episode they list is the one I call the "second" episode above.)

(B) What ever happened to Claudia Christian anyway?
