When I grow mine in I use a Remington trimmer...I like to keep trimmed down to about 5 days of growth all the time. If you want to get serious on defining the edges after trimming it then you can always invest in a straight razor, but the good ones are a hefty price.

Hey man,
I heard that Captain awesome does the same thing. Apparently he used to go over to dedicated to recklessnes' house and pull the pubes out of dedicated's shower drain. Not all the hairs matched though, so he had brown and blonde all glued onto his chin....but it too looked natural

I trim mine every 2nd day very close. My wife doesn't care for it to be sticking her when we kiss or when I am kissing on her neck or whatever.

I usually just go around it with a razor every few days. As far as trimming goes, my barber trims it for me when I go for a haircut, about every 2 weeks.
