Food = Strength

I have been doing 500 Sust / 400 Deca for ten weeks and decided to stretch the cycle out another three to start into cutting. I am about two weeks into the cutter and have dropped way back on the carbs and upped my protein intake a bit and it is amazing how much my strength has dropped off. Its like I came completely off steroids even though my AAS levels are exactly the same a few weeks earlier. I know that diet is key to body building, but its really amazing to me how much difference not eating enough food makes.

On a side note: Its been about 1 1/2 years and three cycles since I really started into weight lifting and I just looked at some of my lifting logs from when I first started.

Weight before: 158lb Now:205lbs was 212lbs before starting cut.
Dumb bell flat bench before: 45lbs(thats not even funny) Now: 120lb-ers.

Everything else went up about the same. Its not as much gains as some people around here have gotten but considering I am a genetically challenged 6'2 38 year old that has always been the skinny standard for which all others are compared ("He is almost as skinny as you....") I sure as heck cant complain about the results I have gotten so far.

The sad part is that I had to put on 50lbs just to get around a normal body weight for a 6'2 male.

That's 47 pounds of muscle in 18 months? That's insane man. Did your body fat change? So you basically started cycling right when you started to get serious with weightlifting? I'm 33 now and started working out at 30 and pretty much changed my body around considerably in the last 3 years. I haven't put on 47 pounds of muscle though. Maybe 35...Hard to calculate because I have lost a lot of fat as well..

My body fat never really changes that much,(been wearing size 32 pants since I was 14) the highest its been was just over 13% and I was just checked using 7-point skin fold at 11.2%.

Yes, I basically started cycling as soon as a started in with the heavy weights. Most people would say I should have gone a few years naturally fist but at my age with my natural test levels being on the down hill slope, I figured I wouldn't get much of any gains for the effort without a little help.

Since you have already gone ahead and done it, don't get lazy when you come off otherwise all your hardwork is for nothing.

yeah its pretty interesting. lots of strenght comes from intramuscular volumisation when you store carbs in there. my strength dives big time when i go low carb

Dude, you and I have some in common! And, you are so right about food. I believe the effect is especially noticeable to folks in our shoes. I started out at age 22 at 6'2" and 145 lbs. I trained naturally for awhile (I had lifted all through highschool so I had some background) and went up to 182 or so before I did my first cycle. I'm now aprox the same weight and bf as you are now. Just took me a little longer to get there. Best of luck with your training. I can really relate to what you are saying about just getting to 'normal'!

I was 147 lbs at age 23 right when I went into the military (just looked at my medical records). While in the military I did a few 6-9 month runs at the weights but could never break the 170lb mark. Just wish I had read up on diet for body building back then.

Now when I got back into the weights it took me about 6 months to get use to eating 6 times a day. The gym part was easy, keeping up on the calories was the hardest part for me, its was a full time job. This being my first cutter I am now having a hard time not eating...go figure.
