just go easy with the weight and slowly build up. Work on form is paramount. As much as you can do lower back excercises it really doesn't correlate with deadlifting. I think if you just work on form and do it intelligenttly you can make some nice gains and strengthen your back at the same time....

Nice preacher curling. What dumbell weights do you use for standing dumbell curl? 55?

I started deadlifting 130 lbs to get form down, and moved up 5 lbs per week for maybe a month. After that I blew up through the weights quicker, and didn't have to deal with an unusual amount of back pain. Might be worth a shot to try, if you haven't gone down that low for that long already.

well i can deadlift 350 for a irm with perfect form, but no matter what weight i use, it could be 135, it still hurts my lower back a lot.

and holy crap, i just thought of the injury that could be causing this. when i was like 13 i was tryin to learn backflips on my trampoline and i stuck on perfectly, got over zealous and went for another, but got freaked and bailed, landing right on the side of my head and neck, and it really tweaked me neck and back badly. i seriosuly couldnt move for 10 minutes. and for a week after that it hurt to move my back in any way, even sitting down was very very painful. i wonder if that could have caused some long term damage i dont know about.

agreed in with Lord, both about chiropractor and deadlifts. im in chiro school right now, they can really help you out and understand your goals.

i dont have the money for a chiropractor though. im gonna do deads next back day and see how they go, i havent done em in like 2 months.
