floyd landis tests positive...

Don't people really and truly want to see the freaks in pro sports? When you turn on the TV and watch whatever sport you like, dont you want to see the guy that can run as fast as a horse or the guy that can hit harder than anyone else??? Is that so bad? For myself, you want to see it!

His team suspended him lastnight :( Wallst journal article link

Here are some articles from the 'no shit sherlock' file:
Wall St Journal said:
Here's what's making racing fans and doping experts scratch their heads: Any testosterone Mr. Landis took during the race would likely kick in somewhere around ... now. Or maybe next week. Certainly not in time to help him much in his quest for the yellow jersey. Charles Yesalis, a retired Pennsylvania State University professor and a consultant on sports doping issues, told the San Francisco Chronicle's Lance Williams, "Testosterone can help you recover, but I don't think it could make a meaningful difference in a week." However, Kelsey Nakanelua, an Olympic sprinter and graduate student who has studied performance-enhancing drugs, said a fast-acting testosterone derivative could give a "quick pop."
DUH!
WSJ part 2 said:
The Boston Globe's Bonnie DeSimone, citing Dr. Yesalis and world-doping expert Gary Wadler, writes, "It would have been nonsensical for Landis to use testosterone as an instant fix. An elite rider who needed to perform well in a climbing stage as Landis did would be likely to turn to stimulants or blood-boosting techniques such as erythropoietin injections to improve oxygen processing capability, rather than using a strength-building substance like testosterone, they said."
He trained for this ride not trained during the ride, so bulking would be retarded.
number 3 said:
"Mr. Landis said he hasn't seen the test results, but people close to his Phonak cycling team said the ratio of testosterone to epitestosterone in his urine sample was 11 to 1, above the acceptable threshold of 4 to 1," Mr. Walker writes. "Studies, including one conducted in 1996 at the National Public Health Institute in Helsinki, Finland, and one in 1988 at Huddinge Hospital in Stockholm, Sweden, indicate alcohol consumption can raise this ratio. Some researchers say the increase can be anywhere from 30% to more than 200%. Mr. Landis said he wasn't familiar with the research until he was told of it yesterday."

..Skinny fucker

No SHIT!! That's what I was thinking as I saw the news this morning. That guy's upper arms are the size of my wrists!
Did you see the part when he won and raised his arm in the air? If I were a tester and saw that I'd think "no way he's on...must be a mistake...no need to test any further boys."

a cyclist's metabolism and body type are VERY different than yours. not to mention the sever dehydration after a stage. For a cyclist to bulk, where some people would be extreme and say drop a gram of test a week, a cyclist would have to be doing double that, or well into "that will give a normal guy gyno in a week" kinds of dosage. I tried to bulk for years while cycling, could never happen, so I stopped two years ago, (before aas) and it was like another growth spurt, my chest got broader, hips wider and so on... When people bitched about dbol pumps, I was taking close to 100mgs a day and riding for 4-6 hours with no pain. half life for dbol is few days in a cyclist or other major endurance athletes compared to a week for some normal bb'rs.
what is pct, nolva, clomid?

floyd is skinny (built like a mountain climber, not a sprinter), but not every cyclist is a pencil neck geek. many are built like running backs, especially the one day criterium riders.

I'd pick lance to beat the crap out of say... tiger woods or even kobe bryant anyday. I should refer to Sean Kelley punching a guy in a previous Tour de France. I also would not pick a fight with George Hincapie. Mind you, I was a three sport kid with a stellar record in all three, lacrosse, cycling and muay thai, i could kick the entire cycling establishment's ass and then some, so maybe i see things too much from my perspective.

What makes you think Lance used EPO?? Just because rumors abound?? How about the "sour grapes" syndrome is the source of the rumors. Whenever someone does as well as Lance someone wants to talk shit about him to make their losing less painful, especially the French.

Around here you have guys that say so and so is on the juice. But what they are really saying is I couldn't do that unless I was on a few grams a week. This is false logic. It only means that they couldn't do what ever without juice. It doesn't mean that others can't.

And as far as saying that someone does any drugs, be it roids or whatever, I want to see evidence not opinion. And I want the chain of custody to remain intack. There are so many f***heads that would do anything to tear someone down that I want to see that some low life couldn't have tampered with the evidance. Like Furman and OJ, how did the bood on his sock get heparin in it anyhow? If a cop is going to frame someone do you think some bicycle rider wouldn't???

Lack of integrity is a major problem in the world today.

What makes me think Lance used EPO? Uh, only that about 6 samples taken from him in 1999 showed positive for it. The fact that technology for EPO testing wasn't around in 1999 and that the tests were performed much later once the technology was available is really inconsequential. That is what makes me think.

Lance argues that too much time passed and the sample were tainted. This arguements has some validity from the standpoint of scientific accuracy. However, no time lapse and natural decomposition of a blood sample will cause a false posiitive EPO reading.

The guy used...he used blantendly before testing was available even though it was a banned substance.

Lance used, get over it. So does everyone....as well they should (if under the guidance of a knowledgable professional).

They are tested at the end of every stage of the race. The results that he had high testosterone were at the end of stage 17 I think. He had a press conference in Spain today and said they he will get tested again and that his high levels of testosterone were normal because of his cycling.

Think about the 17 year old watching a professional football player running faster, hitting harder or a sprinter running a 100 meter race and blowing away the competition. Thinking their going to see the same results they start doing steroids without thinking of the possible consequences. We have to face fact people like Barry Bonds and Ben Johnson are role models and have a responsibility to today's youth and tell them that its not ok to do drugs.

I don't imagine that it as direct as "he does it and goes faster, so should I do it too" You have to remember, they are doing this in secret assuming nobody would ever find out, because if they knew they would get caught, Barry Bonds would be just some phys ed teacher at an elementary school.

Believe me, if you could dunk like Kobe naturally you would, and often, but everyone else would try anything to compete with you. It is inadequacy, insecurity, so they jab, fuck the consequences, I am 17 and invincible, dare you to tell me otherwise.

Mind processes, it is all so casual to escalate it:
I am 15, I am a needle away from making varsity.
17, I am a needle away from a scholarship.
21, I am a needle away from that nfl contract.
25, I am a needle away from the hall of fame.
30, I need the needle or they will retire your old ass because on my own, I can't compete with the young guys.

oh shit, i just realized what would make him (floyd) stronger, spike the test, and rebound like this almost overnight and test positive... HALO ;)

hey now proffesor they migh test positive for MM haha just kidding with ya but u have to admit i did have somewhat of a good point witht he colostrum and all..right? lol ya this testing is dumb let us athletes juice and i dont see why these guys dont get an oil change if they know they bein tested... iol change-takin pee from ur bladder and replacin it with clean pee.. very painful i hear but effective and alot of NCAA d1 teams use it caugh caugh the national champs for one lol

I don't have a problem with a 21 year old using gear, I believe that individual is of age and has the right to see what life is like on the dark side. What I have a problem with is the 15 year old being a needle away from making varsity or the 17 year old being a needle away from a scholarship (BTW excellent analogy taste-icles). While the average 17 year old is far from a kid IMO he does think as himself as being invincible and will more than likely do something foolish that could possibly cost him his life only because he lacks the knowledge that he would have if he were 21.

But I/we digress, this is about a bike rider that may have got his hand caught in the cookie jar.
